TW : weight talk
"Are you marking this performance right now? You're not putting in enough effort." Dae's dance teacher remarked, crossing her arms in disappointment.
"I'm.. I'm sorry. I will try harder now." Dae huffed, wiping the sweat from her forehead.
The piece she was dancing to was to RAYE's "Escapism" which was going to be accompanied by a live orchestra, she had 20 other back up dancers.
She wasn't used to not being the only one on stage.
"You said that the past four runs, Dae." Her teacher said, "Ever since you screwed up in the last competition, your practice hasn't been at is usual high level.
"I'm sorry..!"
"Let's run it through one more time before we check weights and then head home."
"Yes, ma'am."
"That was better than last time, but I just feel like you're not putting your all into it." Her teacher took off her glasses and rubbed her eyes, "let's do a weight check."
Her teacher brought out the small weighting scale that was sitting on the side. Dae let out a small and short sigh, stepping onto it.
"You gained weight?" Her coach asked
Dae pressed her lips into a thin line.
"I'm sorry, coach. I'll work hard to lose more."
"Good, I'll be informing your mom about this so she make sure a you keep on track."
"How do you keep gaining weight?" Dae's mom pressed the question to the girl as soon as they got into the car.
Silence filled the air.
"I don't know."
"You don't know?" Her mom repeated, "surely you're eating when you know you shouldn't be."
She sighed, rubbing her eyebrows as she leaned her arm against the car door.
Dae dug her nails into her palm.
"I'm disappointed in you."
"I'm sorry, mom. I promise I'll lose some."
"Good. If that number raises any more than it is already, you know what will happen."
"Yes, mom."
