Chapter 4: The Gathering Part 1

"There! you look so pretty!" Padme said as she finished braiding Leia's braided crown. Leia wore a dark pink dress with a large ribbon tied around her waist. Padme smoothed out her red dress that flowed to the floor. She looked at herself in the mirror. She played with a piece of hair that stuck out the wrong way.

"Leia, do you know if the boys are done yet?" Padme asked the little girl who was spinning around. Leia stopped.

"No" She then added, "and I thought the girls took the longest to get ready."

"Have no fear! Skywalkers are here!" Came a loud voice from the bedroom door. Padme smiled. "Well, you two look great!"

"Why thank you milady." Anakin said taking Padme's hand.

Leia rolled her eyes. "Dad." Her expression then changed, "Your hair is so flat! It's never like that." She looked at Luke, " You too. You both look somewhat decent."

" Leia!" Padme scolded. Leia shrugged.

"What? My hair is always good looking." Anakin said rolling his eyes.

"Well, are we going to go? We don't want to be late for our own event!" Padme said ushering the two young ones to the speeder.

" This is where the fun begins." Anakin said smiling.

Paige smoothed out her dress and stood up. She wore a creamy white bodice that fit perfectly. The bodice had silver details all over it. The dress just skimmed the floor. She took a deep breath. Reighna noticed. She put a reassuring hand on Paige's shoulder.

" You look great. You shouldn't worry." Paige looked at Reighna. Reighna wore a navy-blue dress that flowed almost to the floor. Just beneath the rib cage was a ribbon tied around. She put a hand to her baby bump, then looked at Paige.

"I know I look fine." Paige said walking to the living room with Reighna.

" You look fine Paige." Reighna reassured the young woman by fixing a piece of hair. Paige smiled slightly. Reighna had always been a mother figure to Paige. Even Steel became like a wise mentor as she got to know him.

Paige fiddled with her dress slightly, "But it's who's there I'm kinda- "

"Well, I just talked to this mister who and I know him pretty well. I think," Steel said with mischievous look, "I think mister Who will approve. You'll be just fine. I will say, you'll get some stares." Steel said putting on his shoes.

" Steel!" Reighna said. "The poor girl is nervous enough!" She said shaking her head. Paige smiled playing with her hair.

"No no. He's good."

"We better jet, eh?" Steel said getting up. "Oh, my tie on straight?"

Reighna shook her head. "Yes, we better. And no." She said with a laugh. "You have it crooked."

Anakin parked the speeder near the front entrance of the Senate.

"I'll be in in a few." Anakin's said lingering outside. "I wanna see someone." Padme gave him a knowing look.

" Alright, I'll be dropping the kids off at the balcony with the other kids." Anakin nodded. Thankfully he didn't have to wait long. For two familiar figures emerging from a speeder.

" Rex! Soka!" Anakin's aid from the door.

" Anakin." Rex greeted. "Why are you out here? Aren't you cold?" He asked. Anakin nodded.

"Oh yeah. I am. But I wanted to see if you'd come alone..."

Ahsoka gave him an eyebrow. "Really?"

"Just looking out for a few of my favorite people in the galaxy." He said with a smirk.

" Well, how about if we go inside?" Ahsoka said gesturing her head towards the door. "This coat and dress is not very warm."

"Right!" Anakin said. "Come on in!" Anakin led Rex and Ahsoka through the crowded entrance. He searched through the crowd for Padme. He found her talking with some very familiar people.

" Obi wan! Satine!" He called.

" Hello Anakin, Rex, and Ahsoka." Satine said with a smile.

" You know" Anakin began, "you were this close to saying that line."

"Oh Ani" Padme said in embarrassment.

" Oh, it seems that I was." Satine said. "Well, let me try that again. She cleared her throat. "Hello there Anakin." "Yes!" Anakin said pumping his fist in the air.

" Satine" Obi wan said with a hint of irritation, "my dear, you don't need to encourage that." Satine gave him a smile. "It was fun. You're famous for those to little words."

"Haha." Obi wan laughed tightly.

"It is true." Rex said. "Pretty much everyone knows the line."

"I get it." Obi wan said with a smile.

"How have you been Obi wan?" Ahsoka asked directing the conversation.

" Oh, we've been doing wonderful. Millie is growing rather fond of me." Satine gave him the look.

" Of us." He corrected.

" What about Qui Gon and Tahl?" Padme asked.

"They love her to bits. Here." Satine said getting her holo pictures out.

"Here is Qui and Mille fast asleep on the big armchair near the fireplace."

" that's a site." Anakin said looking at the photo. "I never knew Qui would be such a snuggle bug."

"I never knew he would fall asleep before the end of a book." Came a gentle voice.

"Tahl! Qui! What a surprise" Ahsoka said smiling.

"It is all so nice to see you all." Qui Gon said.

"Mille has grown on all of us." Tahl commented. "She's such a dear."

"At this rate we just hope she doesn't get spoiled." Cody said. Kathleen coming up beside him.

" If she does" Obi wan said, "blame it on those two." He said pointing to Tahl and Qui."

"Now that is not fair my padawan." Qui said with a cheeky grin.

"I'm not a padawan!" Obi wan said. "I'm a master twice over."

" You're sure not acting like one." Kathleen said with a smile.

" We have our moments." Obi wan stated. Everyone laughed.

Paige walked around the indoor garden. She picked a small white flower. It reminded her of her home back on Bildondi. * She was the only one there. though, it seemed. She felt a presence, she turned around and saw a familiar face. Paige smiled shyly.

"You mind?" Trekker asked walking up beside her. Paige nodded, "Not at all. Sides, I need to talk to you about a few things." Trekker nodded.

"Well, I've got a few things to talk to you about too. So, we're equal." Paige said with a smile.
