"So you and Danny are good friends?" I asked Wren as I gently placed ice on his bruised ribs. He jumped at the sudden coldness.

"Ah- yeah. Him and I hang out in the same group. There's also Tyler, Garrett, and Jake."

"Why haven't I met them yet?"

"I wanted you for myself."

"What do you mean?"

"Every time one of us introduces a girl to the group, the rest of them try to get with her."

"Oh, so you're worried I was gonna go for one of your friends?" I tensed up. Why would he think of me like that?

"Not exactly, I was worried they would go for you." I eased up, feeling relieved.

"Oh, I get it. My friend Haley back home is that way sometimes. Always attaching herself to guys I'm talking too."

Standing up, Wren handed me the ice that was on his ribs and walked over to the mini kitchen to get a drink.

"I can do that for you, I don't want you moving too much." I reassured him and reached for the cup in his hand.

"No, I'm a man, I can do this myself." He joked toward me and I chuckled, sitting back down. He walked back over with a glass of water and started sipping at it.

"Are you feeling any better? The bruise is still pretty purple." I lifted up his shirt and grazed the mark slowly with my pointer finger.

"Yeah, it's feeling a little better, still really sore though." He held the shirt up while I still examined it. When I looked up he was staring at me. Trying not to make it romantic at a time like this, I stood up and suggested the ice needed to be changed. Why ice needs to be changed after 5 minutes, I don't know.

I brought back over a new bag of ice and tried handing it too him, he stared back up at me and lifted his shirt so I could put it on. I sat next to him and pressed the ice against his swollen ribs.

"You're so good to me," he spoke softly. I looked back up to his eyes and they were narrowed, focusing on my eyes then my lips, then my eyes, then my lips again. There was a pause in time.

"You deserve it, after what Danny put you through." I smiled at him and looked back down at the ice.

He brought his hand up to my chin and tilted it up at him. His lips looked so sweet, I just want to attack them with mine. I'm scared to touch him really though because of all the bruises.

"You're so beautiful, Megan." His words pierced against my skin as he leaned down and kissed me. I kept a firm hold on his abdomen with the ice and kissed back. His hand rested on my thigh as the other was holding my chin up to him. The way his lips moved with mine was pure bliss.

We continued kissing until I heard someone trying to unlock the door, at the first click I hopped up off of him and started getting new ice. Checking to make sure I don't hurt him I turned around and he nodded at me knowing why I had done that, and I mouthed the words "I'm sorry," and chuckled as I state filling a new bag with ice.

"Oh hello Megan, I didn't know you were here," my dad said as him and my rambunctious siblings walked through the door. "Yeah, Wren got a little pounded up so I thought I'd take care of him a little."

His eyes sternly looked at Wren and I knew exactly what he was thinking. He didn't think that's all we were up here for. "Good morning sir," Wren said as he jumped up lending out a hand to shake. My dad gave him the stink eye, shook his hand and then returned his gaze to me.

"So, um. I was going to get the kids fed. Did you eat?" Dad asked.

"Yeah mom and I had KFC," I lied.
