Walking down the dirt road I found myself on. Weak from not eating and dirty from not washing. It's been 9 days since I left the Reed family. Sadness fills my heart. Sitting down onnthw side of the road on a rotting log. I cry up to the sky " pleas take me home" tears go down my face. Taking a deep breath I wipe my tears and head on down the road.
It's dark outside I found a good spot to make a cap just off he road a couple minutes. The fire I built blazes. The rabbit I caught and killed sizzles on the campfire. Getting up from the fire I head off to find more fire wood to keep he fire going while I get some rest. Keeping the flames in eye sight I head off picking up wood that should do. As I go farther into the woods I hear a faint cry. I stiffen grabbing me gun from my waste band I follow the crys to a cliff. Grabbing my almost dead flash light I shine it down to a ledge seeing a little girl crying " hi sweet girl I'm Colt are ou hurt" he looks up at me with a dirty tear stained face " n no want mommy" I smile at her " let's get you out of there and I'll help you get home to your mommy. Ok" she nods " ok o need you to brave I need to get my back pack at my camp and get my rope ok I promise I'll be right back" she crys more I sigh but give her a smile and promise I'll be back once more the run off to my camp grabbing my pack seeing the fire is almost put I throw more wood on it so it's warm when I get the girl back here and and run off back to her. Tieing the rope to a sturdy tree trunk and the other end to my body making a harness emptying my backpack I put it back on my back and climb down the cliff and as soon as I reach the girl she hugs me tight. " ok sweet girl I'm going to cut holes in my back pack so I can put you in it so we can climb up safely ok" she nods not letting go of me. Cutting legs holes in my bag for her. Putting he girl in the bag I put the bag on tightly to m body and tell her to hold on to me tight. And I climb up as difficult as it was with a 3 yard old on my back. Getting up the cliff I untie the rope from he tree and grab my stuff ad walk back with the girl asleep on my back. Getting to camp I gently take the girl off my back and look over her body seen she's bruised and scratched. I clan her wounds and give her my sweatshirt to keep warm and we curl up by the fire and sleep.
The next moring I wake up befro he girl and heat up the rabbit from the night before. The girl wakes up and smiles at me " you hungry" she nods and I give her the food I cooked letting her eat it see as she was starving. " what's your name hunny" " me Quinn" " what a pretty name I'm Colt" I help her ues the bathroom as she has no idea how to pee outside then I pack up my camp and put her back in my back pack and we head twords the nearest town knowing I need to bring her to the police station as he family is probably worried sick"
Entering the town of Boot leg I find mslf and Quinn entering the sheriff's office. Where a man sits at his desk lookin up at me he jumps up " QUINN THANK GOD YOUR OK" I take Quinn of my back and the man ingulfs her in a bear hug then turns to me " where did you find her" " down a cliff in hw woods outside of your town" he nods " uncle Lukey Coly save me, and feed me and fix boo boos" he smiles at her let's take you home Quinn" " you to Colt our family going to want to meet you" I shake my head " no thank you sir. I'd appreciate it if you ld forgetting you saw me I know your a cop but pleas" he shakes his head " I'm taking you with us we will feed you and give you more supplies then you can leave and we will let you go but first you come with me" I nod knowing he's not going to take no for an answer.
Pulling up to a farm there cows and horses chickens and pigs. We park on front of the farm houes where there many vehicles parked. " we had people come to help us look for Quinn they parked there cars and trucks here and ride a horse to go out looking we have been searching for 3 days Colt. We all started loosing hope so thank you and for all you've done I make a promise to feed you and give you more supplies and let you be on you way. But you come back when you need more ok or you just need a good rest and home cooking ok" I nod at him during the rude I leaned his names is Luke and he's the towns sheriff. We unload out of the truck and the door to the farm houes burst open a man a women and 4 other older kids come running out crying and saying thank God Quinns ok. They say they're welcomes and I go off to the side giving them there time and space when I'm greeted by a young dog

He's got blood on his feet but looks over all healthy " hey there boy" I bend down a bit and he comes over and let's me pet him I gently pick up his paw and sigh his feet are worn out and bloody l. Dropping his paw I pet his head taking my now holy pack and grab my only water then grab his paws one by one and clean them . Finishing up with his paws I kiss his head " there you go boy that should help" I turn back towrds the family and I see them looking at me " David Bell. Colt here found Quinn and saved her then fed and cared for her and brought her to the station not to long ago" the women smiles at me handling Quinn to her father she runs and ingulfs me in a hug I wince and pull away as the dog sits infornt of her not liking any of this " oh hunny I'm sorry are you hurt" " I'm fine ma'am" I look to Luke " can I go now pleas" he sighs " no first I'm going to feed you them restock your supplies and give you a new pack as you cut hols in yours for Quinn " I sigh the father steps forward looking at me with a sad face " how long have you been on the streets Colt" " 2 years" he nods " growing up I spent time on the streets to not as long as you though it's hard your welcome to stay here as long as you like" I nod " thank you sir but no thanks" he nods. The searchers come back some on horses and some on ATVs all happy Quin was found " COLT COLT" I hear my names being called I turn to see Dallas as he runs over to me " holy dhit kid you disappeared fast we have the hole dam MC looking for you" I look at him confused " why" Hawk wants you back and won't take no for an answer your family and we take care of family and that dam dog of yours keep eating chairs" I chuckle " I miss Hex, but I'm dying" " Hawk want you to see a doctor maybe we can find a cure or a treatment we will do anything to keep you in our family" the dog I just met wine's I pet his head " ok I'll come back" he smiles at me and I turn to the family walking back to Quinn " you sweet girl don't go of by yourself ok" " Otay Colt, you make more good food" I laugh and turn to her father " she wants rabbit over a campfire that's what I had cooking befor I found her and she loved it" he nods m " thanks again Colt" Bell tells me I nod and see the dog at my feet again I pet him more then look to the family " what's his name" " he don't have one showed up a week ago and wouldn't let us come near him he's a stray you can tell. Take him with you he likes you and trust you" David tells me I smile and turn to Dallas " can the dog come to pleas " he chuckles, " sure another dog won't hurt" " get ues to this I find stays al the time and now that I have a place to keep them safe and happy I'm going to bring a lot more to your home" he chuckles " it's your home to Colt"
