The chilling silence of the apartment welcomed Anzu home, uneaze oozing from every corner. A shudder forced its way down Anzu's spine as she quickly made her rounds to breathe some life back into the place. As she made her way into the kitchen a folded piece of paper caught her eye in the center of the table. She felt her heart begin to sink as she slowly stepped closer to the paper looming before her. She couldn't help the trembling of her fingers as she picked up the note, taking in the small heart drawing on the top of the paper, underneath in Kenma's gentle handwriting sprawled out read "Puppy Luv :)".
A sob wracked its way thorugh Anzu's body as she immediately found herself head first between her knees, sitting in the first kitchen chair she landed in, despreatly trying to prevent herself from hyperventalting. Anzu hurled the note back onto the table as the first tear fell onto the delicate notebook paper, causing a wet spot to bloom, threatning whatever precious message lay beneath. As Anzu allowed her body the freedom to do as it pleased, wave after wave of sobs, shudders, and heaving emotions pounded their way out of the poor girls body. All she could do was throw her arms tightly around herself in a futile attempt to keep from busting at the seems. "H-H-He's gonna hate me! He's gonna hate me! He's gonna FUCKING HATE ME!!!!" Anzu began to cry out as she continued the violent stream of emotions and actions she had been trying to quell all this time. An eternity seemed to pass as she was slowly reduced to a babbling, shaking mess only being held together by her own hands, desperatly clutching at her sides.
Anzu's ass left the chair as she felt Kuroo's strong, stable hands gently grasp at Anzu's shakey ones. The pair exchanged no words as Anzu weakly allowed the Rooster to pull her hands up across her chest as he envolped her entire being into his warm, comforting body. Anzu could only squeeze her eyes shut as the last few tears leaked their way out, letting out one last rattling breath she deeply inhaled as Kuroo's scent flooded her senses.
That man might as well have been a six-foot-three walking Xanax the way he was able to silently and swiftly cease Anzu's breakdown. Kuroo could do nothing but silently clutch the delicate Pup he had come home to find in such a state. As soon as the rooster hit the doorstep he could hear the wailing, driving him to hurridly enter the home to locate his love. After the shuddering spells slowed down and Kuroo could feel the evening of Anzu's breath he began to gently run his fingers through her silky hair. With every gentle touch and caress, he laid across her Anzu felt his peace and comfort begin to invade her body.
Anzu became putty in the rooster's hands after all the energy drained from her body post breakdown. As her clearheadedness returned she began to do breathing exercises to ground herself before she had the courage to face Kuroo, who stood protectivly behind her. "Smell the roses....Blow out the candles pup", Kuroo whispered gently into Anzu's ear as she felt his breathing against her back, demanding her to match its pace. Anzu felt her face form a deep blush as her heart fluttered, causing her hard work towards her breathing to nose dive out the window. "God, Jesus, Lord whoever is pushing the damn buttons up there, why me? Riddle me that batman!" Anzu cried out silently curssing herself. Kuroo couldn't help but let out a low chuckle that rattled through his broad chest, " Pup we gotta even your breathing, not make it worse. Come on, smell the roses with me and blow out the candles for me", Kuroo said loosening his hold on the smaller girl as she turned to face him.
Kuroo couldn't help but take in Anzu's near- childlike appearance before him, with her knees curled up to her chest as she desperately tried to hide her face. The last thing Anzu wanted was for one of her boys to see her this way, she never done so before. This was her ugly to deal with, and her's alone. She quickly began wiping at her eyes and face, willing the redness and unequivoble swelling to go away. Out of the corner of her eye spotting the red splotches that undoubtly covered her entire body at this point, Anzu paused as she felt Kuroo's worrying gaze taking inventory of her state. What she wasn't counting on was the single finger that lifted her face upward to him beneath her chin. Anzu blinked in shock as her eyes adjusted to the light, meeting his gaze before shifting hers back to the floor.
"Look at me, Anzu, please," Kuroo softly called out as she met his gaze with fresh tears threatening Anzu's eyes. "Tetsu..." was all Anzu managed to get out before she felt the roosters lips softly land on hers, stealing his name from her mouth. Anzu's eyes fluttered shut as she returned his gentle kiss. The only feeling she could latch on to in that moment was the overwhelming comfort his kiss brought her, immediately ceasing the rapid downward spiral her mind had been in only moments earlier. Kuroo's kiss felt like home. A feeling she had long forgotten about thanks to her childhood. Anzu had to stop herself from pouting when she felt the rooster's lips leave hers, sheepishly meeting Kuroo's gaze. Nervousness and fear were plastered across the rooster's features as he reeled in the wake of his rash actions.
Kuroo couldn't believe what had come over him. It was like his body reacted on instinct as he laid the soft kiss on her lips. He couldn't allow her to be upset any longer as his concern continued to grow, and the silence mounted between them, so he had to comfort her somehow. With how often Anzu had been at the forefront of his thoughts for the past few weeks as he analyzed his feelings towards her and Kenma, hoping to come to some kind of consensus on how to proceed. Big shocker, he hadn't found one yet. The only thing Tetsuro Kuroo knew, without a shoadow of a doubt, was that he loved Anzu Saito and Kenma Kozume. Now he just had to do something about it.
" I am sorry if that was the wrong thing to do. I'm sorry if you didn't want it, but, I think you did. I-I'm just really sorry pup, I-I-I should've", Kuroo rambled anxiously as he rubbed the back of his neck with one hand and puncuated his statement with the other, shooting Anzu a finge gun. Anzu couldn't help begining to cackle at the rooster's behavior. An odd sense of validation settling in her stomach at his solution to her pain. "Maybe he feels the same way about me! I'm not loosing my mind, he does have feelings towards me!" Anzu cheered internally as her laughter came to an end so she could address the pained look that had taken over Kuroo's face. " Thank you Tetsu. You're always so thoughtful of us" Anzu cooed as she cupped his face in her hands, standing on her toes to reach. It was like someone popped him with a pin the way Kuroo deflated into her hands, relief flooding him as he realized she wasn't upset with him.
The rooster opened his mouth to speak, but not before Anzu placed a finger to his lips to stop him. " Tetsu, I know we need to talk about this some more, but I have so much bouncing around my brain right now. I need some more time to sort things out before I can honestly and openly have that conversation" Anzu said timidly as she gestured between the two of them. All Kuroo could do was nod as he processed what she said. He took Anzu's hands as he looked into her eyes, " I hear you, pup, and I respect that. I can wait a lifetime if needed because you matter to me, and you always will, Anzu. Don't ever forget that, please, and if you ever do, I will always be right here to remind you", the rooster crowed as he squeezed Anzu's hands in his. The pair wrapped themselves into a hug as the palpable emotions in the air began to ease, lightening the mood. " Kuroo, are you hungry? I think I hear your stomach," Anzu chuckled as a loud rumble came from the rooster's tummy. " Perceptive as ever pup," Kuroo laughed as the pair seperated so they could figure out the dinner situation, falling into mindless chatter as they searched the kitchen for a solution. Together.
