The boys trailed behind Anzu as she led them to the roof access Kenma had shown her that night. A mix of fear and excitement rumbled through her chest as she pushed open the side door to show the dark flight of stairs that led up. "Up we go!" Anzu cheered, throwing her arms up. Kuroo couldn't stop the soft laughter that escaped him as he watched Anzu's display. "Why don't you hop on pup, I'll carry you up," the rooster crowed stooping in front of the stairs so Anzu could get on his back "Why thank you, kind sir," she replied like a fool as she jumped on, catching Kuroo by the shoulders to keep her balance. Kenma stood back as he watched the pair ascend before him, taking note of the slight tremble in his hands giving away his nervousness to be back on the roof. The same spot where he had first put the moves on Anzu during the party. "If Kuroo knew what I did would he hate me? Would he be upset because he only wants Anzu or does he want me or both of us? I wish I could just ask him how he felt, but I'm too fucking scared. Jesus fuck why am I like this!" Kenma sighed deeply as his inner thoughts pounded freely around his skull thanks to the drugs in his system. He didn't realize how long he had been checked out until Kuroo's voice broke his concentration.
"Oi Kitten! You coming?" Kuroo called from halfway up the stairs, Anzu turning her head around to look at Kenma with a lazy smile. Reaching one of her hands out, making a grabbing motion towards the setter still glued in his place. Quickly wiping at the tears threatening to form in his eyes, Kenma shook his head to clear his racing thoughts a small smile pulling on his lips. "I'm coming, I'm coming," Kenma playfully called slowly jogging to meet the pair on the stairs, continuing their ascent to the roof.
The trio stood in stunned silence, mouths hanging, basking under the moonlight enjoying the view of the multitude of stars that danced through the sky. The only sounds to be heard were the faint bustling of the city below as people went about their late-night activities and the soft breathing of Anzu and the boys filling the air. Anzu couldn't stop the Cheshire-like grin sprawling her lips as she linked pinkies with either boy beside her. "This was such a good idea Pudding Pop," she breathed out turning to look at Kenma with nothing but pure awe and wonder before turning her eyes back to the skies. Kuroo let out a low whistle as he rocked back on his heels in admiration. "There is almost no light pollution up here so we can see the stars for once," Kuroo spoke in awe as he turned to watch Kenma and Anzu's faces basking in their joy. With every word that left Anzu and Kuroo's lips was like throwing a lighter into a fire, causing small explosions across Kenma's soul.
Thankful for his long locks shielding his periphery Kenma looked up freely into the night sky, allowing the moonlight to absorb all the nervousness and fear in his body, just wanting to enjoy the moment with everyone and not get lost in his endless mind chatter. "I-I'm glad you guys are enjoying it, I love watching the stars at night," Kenma shyly mumbled fighting the embarrassment that crept at his spine as Anzu began to rub soothing patterns on his hand with her index finger before speaking, "I didn't know you enjoyed star gazing Puddin! Look at our little Puddin Pop, always full of surprises!" She giggled before laying her head gently on his shoulder, a small sigh of contentment falling from her lips. Kuroo watched the pairs exchange with a smirk as he silently moved his arm to rest atop Anzu's shoulders even being able to reach the middle of Kenma's back, gently resting his hand at the base of Kenma's neck between his sharp shoulder blades.
A shiver wracked Kenma's body feeling the rooster's large hand rest lightly against his back, the skin breaking out into a warm tingle as Kenma leaned into the rooster's touch. The trio continued to stand under Kuroo's arm for what felt like eternity as time slowed in their favor, each one silently wishing that the moment would never come to an end.
Kuroo craned his neck back to widen his field of view of the dazzling night sky silently thanking each star for bringing him to this moment in time. "Please keep letting me have these moments" He silently pleaded gently squeezing his arm around Anzu and Kenma subconsciously as a peaceful calm washed over him. They were safe, safe under his arm where they belonged.
It didn't take long for Kuroo's mind to wander off into daydreams of what their relationship could look like between the three of them. Kuroo and Kenma look after Anzu, making sure she took care of herself, supporting her to do the things she always wanted but never got the chance to do because of her situation, and showering her with endless love because she deserves nothing else. Kuroo sitting with Kenma in the kitchen trying to bargain with him to stop gaming long enough to eat, forcing him to be social, but always being mindful of his limits and anxieties, Kenma curling up in his lap like a cat to nap or game. All three of them coming home from work to each other, or Anzu chasing everyone out of the kitchen so she could cook.
"Whatcha smiling about so big Roo?" Anzu sang out reaching up to poke at the rooster's now flushed cheek, Kuroo being slammed back into reality by Anzu's words began to stammer mindlessly under the influence of the drugs. "I-I-I..."  He stuttered out looking hopelessly between the other two frantically. Kenma felt his heart clench when Kuroo's panicked hazel orbs locked with his, it was like Kuroo was screaming at him for help out of the mess he had stumbled into. With a soft sigh and a shrug of his shoulders Kenma spoke, "Oh you know how he is Zu, always off in LaLa land when he gets stoned. He's probably thinking about the periodic table or some shit," he softly giggled out looking up to Kuroo to see relief and thanks written all over his features.  Anzu's loud yawn cut through the air before anyone could respond, stretching her arms out dramatically Anzu turned to face both boys with a sleepy eyes and a small smile, "I think I need to go night night. Y'all stay up here if you want, but I gotta crash, I'll leave the front door unlocked just lock up when you get in," she rambled out already half asleep before turning on her heel and marching back to her bed.
Both boys stood in stunned silence for a moment before becoming painfully aware of how intimate the moment had become. Kenma immediately moved to begin fiddling with his hoodie strings, Kuroo beginning to rub anxiously at the back of his neck quickly moving to fill the silence. "Well, I guess that's that then." Letting out a nervous chuckle before quickly continuing, "Thanks for saving my ass just now, words are hard...." He trailed off quietly shifting his gaze back to the sky to distract himself, praying Kenma would say something, anything. Internally groaning at how awkward he felt Kenma responded, "It's all good tetsu, it looked painful," he trailed off moving his gaze to the same spot in the sky as the rooster. A sharp laugh rattled through Kuroo's chest as he shook his head "You have no idea, nothing like getting caught daydreaming about your crushes," the rooster crowed carelessly not minding his words thanks to the weed. Kenma began to hack as he choked on his spit hearing what Kuroo had said, "C-Crushes....plural!" He half cried out in shock feeling his heart begin to beat faster than Usain Bolt, white knuckling the railing to hold himself upright. "Holy shit."
