"You two can walk around the town, take pictures and whatnot. Me and Ni-ki's mom are ditching you and having a girls day out."
Over Thanksgiving break, the two families decided to visit a town a few hours away that was known for having European style buildings near a lake.
"But I'm a girl too," Iseul retaliated.
"Well that's too bad I guess. We'll see you later tonight then. Be safe and don't get kidnapped."
Before they could say macaroni and cheese, the parents were out the door.
"So what do you want to do?"
Iseul wanted to dress up, for once in her life. They were in a pretty place, so she wanted to take some pretty pictures.
Ni-ki waited for her to step out of the room to show him.
"Why so fancy?" In reality, Ni-ki thought she looked pretty, beautiful even. She had dolled up completely. Picnic dress, hair done, makeup, and even accessories.
"You're going to take some nice photos of me." She handed him her Polaroid and canon camera. "I'm going to make sure these pictures will last me the next ten years."
So they trekked out to scenic areas of the sea and aesthetic buildings nearby. "Stand over here. The lighting is better," Ni-ki directed. Before taking any pictures, Ni-ki quickly bent down to fix her hair. He brushed down the flyaways and pushed her hair behind her ear before squeezing her cheeks with one hand. "You look pretty, okay? Confidence is key."
He walked to the place where he would get the best angle of Iseul. "Your smile looks fake. Try actually laughing or something."
"How am I supposed to laugh if I don't find something funny?"
"Soul."
"What?"
"Cockapoo."
A smile crept on her face before she burst into laughter. They had figured out that cockapoo was Iseul's trigger word in elementary school when Ni-ki had to do a project on dog breeds. She even had to sit outside the classroom while he was presenting because she couldn't stop cackling.
