Calum laid on his bed, focusing on a spot on the ceiling, trying to get his left eye to actually see something. It had been blind since the incident. He tugged at his hair work! See! He hated the feeling of only seeing out of one eye. It drove him absolutely crazy. But he still laid there trying to make it see. He could feel tears welling up in his good eye. Who would have known blind eyes couldn't cry? See see see!! Be shouted in his head, opening his eye as wide as it could go. He closed his right eye and waved his hand in front of his face. Nothing. He let out a sob and covered his face. He was such a mutant freak! Calum took deep breaths and wiped his tears away. He needed to calm down.

"Cal?" His mother called from the bottom of the stairs.

"Yeah?" He replied attempting to hide the sadness in his voice.

"It's nice outside, why don't you go out and enjoy the sun! You haven't left the house in weeks!" She said. Calum sighed. He refused to leave his room for the first week after the incident and still hadn't left the house at all. He wanted to, but couldn't bring himself to face the world. Not with his face looking so terrible.

"Mom I really dont-"

"Calum please. Please just go outside in the yard. For me. Please." She begged from the bottom of the stairs. Calum went down stairs to face her.

"Why do you want me to go out there?" He whispered.

"Because, sweetheart I'm worried about you and you're getting pale! No one will see you! We have our fence up! Please? Just get some sun!" Calum bit his lip and held back his tears. He hated how easily he cried. He hated how weak he felt all the time. But more than anything he hated not being able to see out of his left eye!

"Fine. I'll go. But if someone sees me I'm never leaving the house again. Ever." He said. His mother smiled

"Thank you, Cal. I love you" she said, kissing his forehead. Calum nodded and trudged out the back door into the yard. He flopped onto the ground and sighed. Outside sucked. He hated outside. Hated, that is, until he heard the beautiful sound of someone singing. He knew the song. Loved it actually. Down by Blink-182 it was sung so beautifully too. The boy did it justice. He did it more than justice. He was amazing. He found himself humming along very quietly. He loved the sound of the guitar strumming simply but beautifully. He loved everything about the situation. When the song finished, Calum found himself wanting to speak to the boy. Without much thinking he said

"Wow you're a good singer!" Calum clamped a hand over his mouth quickly. Shit. He prayed the boy over the fence didn't hear him.

"H-hello?" He called "is someone over there?" Calum gulped and clear his throat.

"Um yeah. Hi. I just said you were a good singer.... I'm Calum." He heard a soft chuckle.

"Thanks, Calum! I'm Michael!"
