₊˚⊹ "F/N just tell me what happened!" Your mom said, speeding on the highway in reach of the emergency room. She just got off the phone with Miles's mother, Rio, who was in just as much rush to the hospital hearing the 'news'.

You were in the back of the car holding Miles in your arms, practically carrying him on your lap. You rubbed his back trying to give him (and yourself honestly) some sense of comfort in the situation. You knew exactly what happened. You didn't know how it happened or who was responsible or involved, but all you knew was... it had something to do with the prowler.

"Ma I keep telling you I don't know!" You said, knowing you were hiding information. Your mom sighed, frustrated by your answer. She could tell you knew something, but decided not to push it anymore, for now at least.

Your mom soon turned into the hospital and you quickly helped Miles out of the car. "Can you walk?" You asked him, he nodded his head. "Okay." You replied, holding onto him giving him support to walk along with you into the ER. Your mom close by just in case he falls. Fortunately and to your surprise Rio soon came up running behind you three. "Miles!"

Miles turned around weakly, hearing his mom's voice. He instantly tried to walk up to her only to stumble, noticing this you turned around and led him to his mom. Miles instantly clung to his mother just like a little kid. You and Rio seemed to be surprised, Miles rarely showed affection like that, but who knows what happened to him in those two hours after he left your place.

Rio held him tightly to her, stroking the back of his head, you sighed at the bittersweet sight before getting the idea to get a wheelchair for Miles. You ran inside the hospital real quick and came back out with a wheelchair so he'd be more comfortable.

"Uh. Ms. Morales...I got a wheelchair." You said politely, offering it to Miles. She nodded her head and wiped some tears. "Oh of course.." She guided Miles to the chair and he sat down, his body relaxing a lot more having a chance to sit down.

Miles was soon rushed to a room, his vitals were taken, he was X-rayed, and other regular procedures were run. The four of you, Miles, you, your mom, and Rio were now waiting for the doctors to come back with any information.

Miles now had enough mental and physical strength to actually form words, and the first thing he asked was,

"Mom, is Uncle Aaron coming?"

Rios's face softened. "I got in touch with him baby...h-he hasn't got back in contact yet." Miles's face turned deadpan. "Oh...It's cool." Rio sighed "I'm sure he'll be in touch soon.", "Mhm." Miles hummed.

You could do nothing but stare at Miles, you just wanted to bombard him with questions, with your concerns and how worried you were about him and it hurt you couldn't. It hurt you couldn't let those words out because of his mom and yours being around. And it hurt knowing even if they weren't around...Miles probably wouldn't even listen.

Miles was starting to stare right back at you, with one of those complex expressions, you couldn't read his face, you could only tell that he had so much on his tongue that he couldn't say at the moment. You sighed and looked back down at the floor and he looked back up at the ceiling.

"Rio." Your mom spoke up unexpectedly, Rio turned over to your mother, " Yes?" Your mom sighed. "Can we leave out for a bit...I want to talk to you about something." Your stomach dropped out of nervousness, you had no idea what your mom and Rio were gonna talk about, all you knew is that it would raise suspicions between you and Miles.

You watched them intently, paying attention to their body language. Rio shot a quick glance at you and Miles before speaking; "Yeah...I've been wanting to talk as well." She sat up and walked over to Miles and kissed his head. "I'll be back Miles." He nodded his head weakly. Your mom gave you a soft glance, "Yeah me too..."

"..Ok momma." You replied waiting for them to leave, as soon as that door closed you went up to Miles's bed. "Miles can you tell me what happened??" Miles sighed "F/N..." You shook your head. "No. What happened?? Miles I can't take you getting hurt like this I worry too much! I'm scared!" Your voice was starting to raise, Miles grabbed your arm gently.

"...F/N you don't have to worry about me...I may get hurt but I'm not going anywhere I swear." You didn't believe those words at all but decided not to argue and instead asked your question again. "Can you just tell me who beat you up then?" Miles sighed. "...These people know me, just a small group. They don't know my name or anything but- If they recognized my face...they'd know that I was the...prowler.

"...And they saw me. I was supposed to drop a bucket of gear off for them but...I didn't have it tonight- I honestly forgot, I was hoping they wouldn't spot me but they did, and...basically I was jumped." You sighed, while Miles chuckled weakly. "You should see them though I beat their asses I swear-", "Miles I don't care about that I care about you...I don't give a fuck if you beat them up I don't want you to be in the hospital."

He sighed and glanced off to a wall. "...I'm sorry ma." You scoffed a little frustrated by his answer. "...That's not what I wanna hear, I wanna hear that you'll stop." Miles stayed quiet again, knowing he couldn't promise anything. You sighed and leaned over the hospital bed. Miles looked at you confused before you gently rested your head down on his chest.

Miles's body tensed up a bit before relaxing completely. He stroked your head gently, and you relaxed more into his body warmth, appreciating his heartbeat, being so grateful that it was still there in his chest and not somewhere pierced with a bullet or out of air.

You soon heard Rio and your mother's voice come closer to the room. You instantly got off his chest and ran back to your seat, Miles giggled at how fast you rushed. You couldn't help but smile subtly, glad to see him laugh even in this situation.

Rio and your mother's expression was far from a smile though. They both sat down slowly glaring at their children. Your mother began to speak first, in a slow but assertive voice. "We need you to tell us what's actually going on here. We know you two know something."

You glanced at Miles and then back to your mom, you gulped, preparing yourself to lie. "What do you mean?" Your mom scoffed. "Don't play dumb, we gave birth to you we know when something's not right." You hated when your mom said that, you hated it even more when she was right about something being up.

Rio started to speak up as well, talking to Miles. "Miles you know exactly how you got hurt."

Miles scoffed and sat up weakly on the bed. "Yeah, I was jumped." Your face scrunches up, a bit confused about why he was actually telling the truth, but you don't say anything and let him finish. Rio's eyes widen, and you thought it'd be smart to act surprised as well.

"Jumped?! Why would you not call me?!" Rio said extremely worried. "I don't know...just wasn't thinking about it, I just knew F/N's place was around the corner."  You and Miles knew his mother was still suspicious, but Miles kept the deadpan expression. "...Okay, why were you beat up?"

"...I don't know. They just saw me and started beating on me." He wasn't lying...but he definitely wasn't telling the truth either, you stayed quiet, though, impressed by how stone-faced he could look when lying...probably how he was able to get away with it when it came to you.

"And you didn't think to call your dad?-" Rio's eyes widened at her mistake; Miles was always taught to call his father if something happened, and around the time Miles was "jumped" his father would've been at the police station.

Miles sighed and looked at a wall, Rio rubbed her forehead frustrated by her words. "...I'm sorry....You know what? We'll continue this when we get home." Miles continued to look towards a wall. You sighed at the sight of the two, before looking up at your own mother. She gave you a soft look before wrapping an arm around your shoulder. You let your face rest against her arm as the four of you waited for the doctor to come back.
