"The Star Painter, 1826."
"In other news, a rare meteor shower is right now taking place in the central region of the country. These special meteors emit purple hue, that scientists explain occurs, when so called "Curve Simpatico" comes near our planet. It's an invisible mass travelling through cosmos and, whilst its core substance is harmless to our planet, the full list of its elemental build is still undiscovered. Upon the meteor rain, purple and even pink trails hang behind them. This particular phenomenon occurs only around every 200 years.."
Feet up on the table, eyes closed and back leaned till almost the floor on the much comfortable computer chair– that's how Jooheon now usually spends most his nights, now that he had gotten a job to be a night guard in Seoul's National Museum of Art. His job was easy – listen to the late-night news TV lady tell 'what's up' in the world, later turning on whatever romantic comedy movie was on for the lonely people of the night and crunch down cheese balls from the huge tin his grandma had gifted him last Christmas. The tin was almost as big as the grandma herself.
Oh, and guard the museum, check the monitors for any activity and deal with any visitor, whether their intentions were good business related or just... the other way. But Jooheon did not dwell on the latter as much, cause this wasn't like the National Bank, that withheld very important data about its citizens. This was just an art museum with still paintings.
Overall, the job was laid back and so was Jooheon. Nothing about this night seemed different. However, coming back from the bathroom, where he finally had decided to wash his sticky cheese ball hands, he flashed eyes across all monitors, in case something had happened in his absence. And something indeed had happened. Jooheon's body froze, as he saw a dark blob of a figure standing in the left side of the Great Hall– right by the newly brought in painting.
"Oh my GOD! Ok, it's happening!!" Jooheon panicked out loud and grabbed both flashlight and a wooden bat, that stood yet untouched in the corner. He had brought that one in from home, when he learned all that the museum had to offer was foam stick. Drastic situations call for drastic measures. Gathering up all the courage he had in his heart, which wasn't a lot, since Jooheon was a prime example of a scaredy cat, he scurried his was to where the infiltrator was last seen.
Tomorrow was the opening of a new exhibition in the Great Hall. Today the last and eldest piece was brought in. It was a large painting, that was said to be some astronomer family's heirloom, which they had lent "in the name of stars and space", as that was the theme for this exhibition. Jooheon had arrived at the same time as the painting, so he had helped the museum staff guys put the painting up on the wall. It was a bit hard, as the painting was still covered by a thick, red velvet drape, which would be only taken off tomorrow at the grand opening. Though, whilst no one was looking, Jooheon's curiosity got the better of him and he peaked trough the drapes.
