"Holy shit I love being a cowgirl." I laugh loudly, trying on one of the many hats Grace brought to the Walters house.

"Isnt it fun? It looks so good on you both!" She insists.

"I dont want to go." Jackie sulks, while sitting on her bed.

"No you have to!" Grace says as I groan in agreeance. "Look," She pulls my sister up to our full length mirror. "The county fair is part of your guys assimilation into Silver Falls life, you should look the part."

"Agreed. You would look hot as fuck in those little Levi's jeans that make your butt look good." I laugh, throwing on one of the white dresses I have. This whole morning, the three of us have just been messing around. Grace decided we needed to pick out outfits for the upcoming county fair, so that is what we are doing.

Ive only ever been to a carnival in the western part of New York, but Im looking forward to a real event like this. Jackie simply shrugs.

"I dont even want to go that much either, but Im trying to embrace this." I laugh.

I throw on a cute little jean vest, cowboy boots, and a hat. This is definitely my outfit. It is so cute.

"Is Alex still mad at you from the award ceremony?" Grace asks me sympathetically.

"Yep." Jackie rolls her eyes. She hasnt been the biggest fan of Alex recently. But I dont even blame her.

"That was ages ago."

I shrug, turning around with my new outfit. "Yeah. And then theres also Cole. Which genuinely makes my heartbreak every time." I say dramatically. A small chuckle comes from me, trying to make it not seem like I actually meant it. But I did.

"Hey, people say bad things when they are drunk." Jackie points at me with narrow eyes. She has been wanting me to think positively about all of this.

"You and Grace both know they say honest things."

"Maybe its like a boy tugs on your pigtails and it actually means he likes you." Grace suggests, sitting on Jackies bed.

A deep sigh comes from me as I cross my arms over my chest. "Even then there is no bright side. That idea is messed up too."

"Well you might not be able to talk to Cole, but you can talk to Alex." My sister suggests. I ignore her as I watch Grace pull out a pair of boots, her eyes going to Jackie.

"So I was thinking, you should try these." Grace smiles mischeviously at Jackie.

"Uh no. I cant pull those off."

I scoff at her, shaking my head. "You could pull off anything you wanted." I reassure. I would die
to see Miss Howard in those dusty boots. It would make my whole year.

After Grace leaves, while Jackie and I begin to get ready, I walk downstairs, taking in a big deep breath before knocking on Alex's door.

The wooden door falls open without even a push, and I find him peacefully reading on his bed. His eyes look up at me, instantly falling with disapointment. "Hi." I whisper, stepping inside the room he shares with Nathan slowly.

"Hi." His annoyed voice musters back.

"So is there a reason youre mad at me?" I ask, getting straight to the point. Im over this constant attitude he is giving me. The last time he was actually kind to me was after my recital, because he was stunned, and knew I needed the support. He shrugs, his face giving it all away. "The award dinner?" I ask. Alex nods, biting on his cheek. "You need to know, what I did was for your mom. It was selfish of him to show up like that."
