Blood Pt. 9

I still don't have a good feeling about Shane. I was already not feeling 100% for giving so much blood, but on top of that Shane and Otis went to an abandoned high school to get supplies for Carls surgery. And only Shane came back, he said Otis sacrificed himself for Carl. I've felt moths all day since Carl got shot.

Carl needs surgery, hershel says he's having internal bleeding, so he needs to go in a stitch the "bleeder". He's in surgery now.

I hope Carl make it out of this ok, i can't lose anyone else. Especially not Carl.

Hershel had us set up our tents outside in his yard, but i've been staying inside, just incase Carl needs more blood. I've already gave a lot, my head feels like it's floating at this point.

Beth brings me a cup of apple juice, "This will help your blood sugar come back up, so you won't be so light headed".

"Thank you," I say taking a sip.

The cup feels heavy in my hand as i drink. I set the cup down and lean my head back.

"So how did you all meet?" Beth asks.

I stay silent for a moment, I could tell her the truth of how my brother died for Rick, or i could can just say we found each other in Atlanta. "Long story," I say.

Beth looks up at the clock on the wall, "Well we've got a lot of time".

I look up at her, is she serious? I can't think straight, i still feel dizzy, and Carls still in surgery.

"Me and my brother were in Atlanta, he went off to save rick and i met the rest of the group and then took me in," i say quickly.

She doesn't need to hear all the details, i'd rather she didn't know everything.

Everyone is sitting around, waiting for Carl to get out of surgery. The Greenes are pretty religious, from what i've seen. They've been praying for Carl all day.

Although Maggie was talking to glenn and i over heard her saying something about her having doubts about god.

Lori come out of the room where Carl is and sits by me "Hun you need to get some sleep".

I shake my head, "I'm not sleeping till i know he's ok".

She laughs, "i know how you feel, but you still need to sleep".

I nod, "if he needs more blood wake me up ok?"

She goes back into the room with Carl and Rick. Beth gets me situated to sleep on the couch in their living room. I hope when i wake up he's ok.

I don't wake up till later in the afternoon, i stayed up pretty late last night. I sit up and stretch, Andrea walks in "They're having a funeral for Otis, you coming?"

I nod, i stand up and put my hair in a ponytail. I walk outside to the group of people.

We all stand in a circle and everyone says something about him and stacks a rock on a pile in honor of Otis.

When it comes to my turn, i take a rock and stand in front of the pile, "I didn't know him that well, but i thank him for giving his life for Carls. And i will always remember him for what gift he has given us." I stack my rock and go back and stand in the circle.

It comes to Shane's turn, moths. He tells a story about how Otis sacrificed everything, but it sounds made up. The moths keep going faster and faster.

At the end of the funeral I go back inside and go to see if Carls awake. When i go inside he's laying there looking around the room. He sees me and instantly says, "Is Sophia ok?"

We still haven't found her, but he's already going through enough so i just say, "She's fine, you ok?"

"Everything hurts," he says wincing, "What happened to your arm?" he points and my bandage.

"You were running out of blood, and luckily, i could help you," i say.

it's gets quiet as he looks at the 2 empty chair next to his bed, where Lori and Rick were sitting last night.

"Just try to rest i'll go get your mom," I walk out into the living and look out the window.

Lori is over by the tents talking to glenn. I step outside and run to Lori. "He's awake," i say quickly.

Lori hands a piece of paper to glenn and then runs toward the house.

Glenn's going out on a supplies run with Maggie, Lori probably just needs something. Glenn starts walking away but the piece of paper falls out of his pocket as he walks away.

I feel a bit nosey and i pick up the paper and open it, like i thought it's just supplies. But why does Lori need a pregnancy test and some type of pill?

This makes my mind race again, is she pregnant? If she has a baby, it could be loud and attract walkers, and i remember seeing a scar on her stomach once.

She had to have something called a C-Section when she had Carl.

I try to ignore it, i fold the note back up and run after glenn. "you dropped this," i said handing it to him.

"You didn't read it did you?" he asks a bit worried now.

"No, i didn't," i lie.

"Alright, do you need anything from town?" he asks.

I shake my head, "I'm fine".

That was a lie too, Marcus always told me not to worry, but right now that's all i can do, except for wait.
