Helping Her - The Rookie

Chapter One

Tim and lucy have been together for a few months. One day their lives changed.

Monday

They walked out of Lucy's apartment, to find that her car wasn't there. It was stolen! They rushed to the station and started their shift, driving around while looking for her car.

Half way through the day they spot it, she. they pull up...

They notices that someone is in the car. They got out of the shop.

Tim: "LAPD get out of the car with your hands up." The girl gets out and Lucy arrests her.

The girl: "You don't understand the guy loaned me the car lost his keys."

Lucy: "I own the car." The girl is shocked and worried.

Lucy: "What's your name? How old are you anyways? And where are your parents?"

The girl: "I'm Tamara, I'm 17 and my parents are ... dead." Lucy apologised to the girl and asked where she was staying. Tamara was living on the street.

Lucy: "I'm not trying to over step, but would you like to stay at my apartment?"

Tamara: "I don't want to be a burden."

Lucy: "It's no problem at all, we'll bring you back to the station then we can go back to my apartment." Tim was not happy at all, Tamara nodded at Lucy.

Tim: "Chen, a word?" Lucy and Tim walked away from Tamara.

Lucy: "What's up babe?"

Tim: "Why did you do that? You don't even know her."

Lucy: "She is coming to stay with us. I'm sorry if you don't agree but I want to help her." Tim stormed to the shop. Lucy came back and was talking with Tamara. They went back to the station, once their shift was over they went to Lucy's apartment.

Tamara: "Wow, this place is amazing. Thanks for letting me crash here."

Lucy: "Not a problem at all." Tim walked into the apartment, Tamara approached him.

Tamara: "Hi, I'm Tamara." She extended her arm.

Tim (coldly): "Tim." He walked away.

Tamara: "I'm should go, your boyfriend clearly doesn't like me here."

Lucy: "It's okay. It's just Tim being Tim. I'm sorry for his behaviour." They spent time talking about each other, getting to know each other better. Lucy helped Tamara get set up in the spare room. Once Tamara was settled, Lucy went to her room.

Lucy: "Tim, please be nice. She has been through so much."

Tim: "I'm only going to be, I'll acknowledge her but nothing else." Lucy was not happy about this. They went to bed.

Tuesday

They got up and went to the station. Tim was in a grouchy the whole day. Everyone was aware of his mood and didn't go near him. But Lucy had to receive the backlash of his mood. Angela knew something was up.

Angela: "What's going on with you?"

Tim: "We found a homeless girl who stole Lucy's car, Lucy said the girl could stay with us. But she never asked me."

Angela: "It's her apartment after all, she is also trying to help the girl out." Tim just walked away.

Wednesday

Lucy brought Tamara to work, to alway her to meet the others. Everyone warmed up to Tamara. As Tamara was in the station, there was an inner struggle going on with Tamara. She is struggling with a lot, she has never had people be so nice to her.

She didn't want to tell anyone, because she knows that as soon as people find out they'll leave her.

She did enjoy going to the station, but Tim was being cold to her. She was upset, he seemed nice but he just wouldn't give her any time.

Tamara: 'Why does Tim hate me so much? I'm not trying to break them up or steal anything. Lucy was just being nice to me by allowing me to stay.'

She actually learnt a lot. Nyla and Angela were showing her some detective skills, she was actually interested in the work but knew she wouldn't be able to join the force.

Thursday

Lucy and Tim went to work, Tamara stayed home working on some school work. Lucy and her agreed that she could study online.

Tim didn't trust her home alone at all, so he installed a secret camera in the house to monitor Tamara's movements. Angela saw this.

Angela: "What the fuck Tim?"

Tim: "I don't trust her, she could do anything when we aren't there."

Angela: "Seriously Tim, why can't you just drop it."

Tamara left and went to her secret job. Then she returned her with groceries. Once she packed them all away, she started cooking dinner for Lucy and Tim.

They arrive home to a sweet smell. Lucy was shocked.

Lucy: "What smells so good?"

Tamara: "I made you guys dinner, I hope you like it. Also, I went shopping for groceries. Everything is restocked." She passed the plates to them.

Lucy: "What about you dinner?"

Tamara: "I ate before you guys came home." She lied to them, she hasn't eaten anything since work.

Tamara: "Anyway, I'm going to bed." They part ways. Lucy was grateful that Tamara cooked dinner and went shopping for her, it saved her time and having to rush after work.

Friday

Lucy found out about Tim's camera and was super mad. She forced him to get rid of it.

He didn't want to, but whatever Lucy told him he did.

She couldn't believe that he didn't have a little faith in her decision. Lucy told him that if he wouldn't behave then he would be sleeping on the couch.

He was very apologetic. He didn't mean to be irresponsible.

Saturday

Lucy and Tamara went to the park while Tim had to work. The girls enjoyed their day out it was very refreshing. They brought stuff for Tamara, like clothes, furniture and decorations. To help her make the room for like her safe place, she was very grateful.

They arrived home and moved everything into Tamara's room. She asked Lucy if she would help decorate, which of course Lucy agreed to. They had so much fun, then there was a knock at the door.

Lucy answered to see it was her mother, her face immediately dropped, her happy mood was gone. Tamara stayed hidden away and listened.

Lucy: "what do you want mum?"

Lm: "Checking to see if you quit the force. We have been one the biggest talk of the town, that our own daughter is a cop."

Lucy: "I'm still a cop, and I'm still dating a cop too. I'm not leaving the force."

Lm: "Your still a disappointment and your still disowned." Lucy's mum left, Tamara couldn't believe what she just witnessed. She didn't believe that a girl like Lucy could be in trouble.

The rest of the day, Lucy's mood changed. She was down and definitely not her bubbly self. She helped Tamara then went to bed.

Sunday

Tamara felt bad for Lucy. She got up early and cooked them both breakfast and made coffee. She knocked on their door and walked in.

Tamara: "I made breakfast and coffee. I'm sorry if the coffee isn't how you like it, but enjoy."

Lucy: "Thanks T." Tamara left.

Lucy: "See Tim, she is a lovely girl." Tim still didn't like her at all.

They spent the day clearing the house and relaxing before they had work.
