"So what did you find out?" asked Ellie eagerly.
"Yeah, we couldn't find anything," said Griff, emphasizing anything.
Erin opened her laptop. She opened the website that she had saved and handed the desktop to Ellie.
Griff sat on the bed with Ellie, and Erin sat on the swing.
"Read it," said Erin.
Ellie cleared her throat as she began reading out loud.
"The Mystic Manor was the residence of the Anderson family in 1678. It was a grand mansion that looked quite different from its current state. The Andersons were a wealthy family with many hidden secrets. However, one of their youngest members, Rose Anderson, mysteriously disappeared in 1718. Following her disappearance, the Anderson family sold the manor to the Carter family without informing anyone. They left behind a signed parchment to sell the mansion and vanished soon after."
Erin and Griff listened attentively.
"Isn't it strange that they sold the house but didn't inform anyone and just vanished?" asked Griff suspiciously.
"Exactly!" replied Erin enthusiastically.
"How does that help us?" asked Ellie cluelessly.
"This is a piece of the puzzle," replied Griff.
"What puzzle?" asked Ellie, confused.
"The puzzle to helping the ghost," replied Griff, annoyed at Ellie's forgetfulness.
"Oh," said Ellie guiltily.
"Look, there's a picture of the Anderson Family!" exclaimed Ellie.
The three of them looked at the picture. It was an unclear, black-and-white picture. They could understand the picture of who they guessed as Rose Anderson. She was wearing a long skirt and a top with a heart-shaped brooch. Erin squinted her eyes to look at the brooch. Somehow, the brooch looked oddly familiar to Erin.
"This brooch looks familiar," said Erin.
"What do you mean?" asked Griff.
"I think I've seen this brooch somewhere before," answered Erin.
"Where?" asked Ellie.
"I can't remember," replied Erin, trying to remember where she had seen the brooch before.
"If you remember, we can hunt down another piece of the puzzle!" exclaimed Griff.
"I'll try," replied Erin to Griff's enthusiasm.
"I'm going to print this picture to get a better look at this," said Erin, gesturing to the brooch.
"Erin! Ellie! Griff! Lunch is ready!" shouted Mrs. Raven from the kitchen.
"Coming!" shouted three and went down to the kitchen.
Erin left as soon as she finished eating to print the picture. Ellie and Griff helped Mrs Raven wash the dishes.
"Maybe we can try communicating with the ghost again," whispered Griff to Ellie while they were washing the dishes.
"And how do we do that?" asked Ellie, not in favour of communicating with the ghost again.
"With the Ouija board, obviously!" replied Griff.
"I don't want to," said Ellie in a small voice.
"What?!" whisper-yelled Griff.
"It's scary," said Ellie, trying to defend herself.
"It's a ghost asking for our help! It's not here to hurt us!" whispered Griff.
"Still," said Ellie.
After washing the dishes, they went upstairs to Erin's room, but before they could reach the door they were pulled inside the twins' room by the twins.
"You guys scared me!" shouted Ellie.
"Sorry," muttered Aidan.
"So, do you guys want something?" asked Griff sarcastically.
"We want to know what you guys are hiding," said Alex, his eyebrows raised.
"We're not hiding anything," said Ellie, confused.
"Yes, you are!" shouted the twins in unison.
"About what?" shouted Griff, also confused.
"That's what we want to find out!" shouted Alex and Aidan.
"I'm confused," said Griff and Ellie.
"We want to know what you guys are not telling us about what happened after we left the sleepover," explained Aidan.
Griff and Ellie exchanged hesitant looks.
"Nothing happened. We went to sleep after you guys went," replied Griff quickly.
"We know you guys are hiding something," said Alex.
Someone suddenly opened the door.
"You guys are here?!" asked Erin, surprised.
"We were just leaving," replied Ellie, eyeing the twins.
"They interrogated you, didn't they?" asked Erin.
"Kind of," replied Ellie.
"They interrogated me too," laughed Erin.
The three of them stood silently for a moment. Suddenly, Ellie started laughing hysterically, later joined by Griff and Erin.
Hearing their laughter, Mr and Mrs Raven smiled.
Ellie and Griff went home before dinner. After bidding them goodbye, Erin suddenly realized that she hadn't started her homework yet. Erin quickly had dinner and then ran up to her room to do her homework due the next day. She fell asleep after completing her homework, unaware of what awaited her the next day.
