New Orleans, Louisiana- 1922
We had fled from Mikael over seven years ago, and still we had never come back to New Orleans, or at least no one else has. Mikael left to follow us to Chicago, making the city safe again, and I happened to like the city.
When I am here, I just get to run, wild and free. I'm not Klaus Mikaelson's little sister, I'm not a vampire or a hybrid, I'm just Kie, a werewolf girl.
It had become a normal occurrence since I came back to the city, me running through the bayou. When I was in Chicago with Nik and Rebekah, Mikael had found us and we had to run. I got separated from Nik and Bekah so I came to the last place I felt safe, but it was a very different city than when I left.
The city was still recovering from the havoc my father had wreaked, and in my brother's absence a new leader whom I had thought dead came to power. Marcel Gerard. He had yet to learn of my presence in New Orleans and the longer I could keep it that way, the better.
Tonight I was running through the bayou, under the full moon. I needed to clear my head, and running was how I knew how to do that. It was working, until I stumbled upon what I can only describe as a massacre.
I shift back, looking at the carnage with my own eyes, I was petrified, how could somebody do this? Why would somebody do this?
There had to be at least two dozen bodies scattered throughout the small patch of grassland, each one more mutilated than the last. I wander around trying to find anything that could tell me how this happened.
I found one of the bags I had stashed clothes in right next to the scene. I put one of Kol's old button up shirts on and went back to the massacre trying to find any clues of why this happened.
I walked towards a man who looked less brutally murdered. He was still bleeding and sustained several injuries, but he was better than his friends and his limbs were all fully intact. I moved closer, slowly, I didn't know what I was afraid of, but I was definitely afraid of something.
I closely examine his body, looking for anything suspicious, my eyes trail down his pale face to his neck were there were clear bite marks from a vampire I look closer, focusing and finally seeing more bite marks across his body and when I look at his dead friends it's almost obvious that some vampires were recklessly feeding on locals and leaving their bodies for anybody to find.
I felt bad for them, caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, but I felt worse when I caught a scent from them. They were all wolves, every single one of them. It wasn't some reckless attack after all, it was a werewolf massacre.
