Part Five

~Jaxon’s POV~

I managed to get Harry away from Cyrus, but as soon As soon as I got Harry off of him, he fell. I was so scared. I ran over and knelt beside him. “No!” I was so angry at Harry. Cyrus was bruising already. Harry got him good in the face. He had a nasty black eye. “I’m sorry… Cyrus, come on, stay with me kid!” I screamed, shaking him gently, hoping to every existent deity that he’d be OK.

Coach jogged over. Jogged. The bastard didn’t even run. He hated everyone except his precious Harry and his idiot friends. Coach wasn’t all bad, he just favored Harry and his minions more than need be.

Just as I expected, coach stayed standing. “How bad is it?” He had such little concern in his voice I felt that telling him would be a waste of time.

“Uh. How the hell am I supposed to know?!” I was angry. He could’ve stopped this way before I did. “You need to call an ambulance coach!”

“Yeah right, he’s bein’ over dramatic. Take him to the nurse.” He Shrugged and walked away. I wanted to hurt him. I wanted to cause him so much bodily pain that he wouldn’t be able to breathe without his feet hurting. But I wouldn’t. I couldn’t risk that. I gained control of myself and picked Cyrus up. He was still unbelievably attractive. Even like this, with his head hanging mindlessly. He was a lot lighter than I expected. I started off to the nurse’s office, running As fast as I could, ignoring when a teacher yelled for me to stop running.

Ms. Whitaker, my AP Psychology teacher was out of her room for some reason and Saw me carrying Cyrus. “Jaxon, what happened?” She was concerned about a student she didn’t know. That raised my faith in human kind a bit.

“Can’t explain now! Sorry!”I kept running, Cyrus’s head bobbing. That couldn’t be good. I shifted him so his head wasn’t moving so much. I burst into the office to the clinic. I looked around for her. She wasn’t in.

I shook my head and turned around. I saw the principal walk in. I went to him, panting from complete exhaustion.

“Jaxon? Why are you carrying Cyrus?” He walked over and set his coffee down on a table by the service desk or whatever.

“Harry…beat….him up…H-he fell and hit his head really bad…”I struggled to choke out the words, for more than one reason.

Mr. Wallace, the principal, looked at his secretary. “Janice, call an ambulance. Jaxon, take a seat kiddo.” He smiled and patted my back. He always liked me.

“Thanks…” I sat down holding Cyrus, trying to get some response from him. I got nothing. I was really starting to worry. I started stroking his cheek. Janice gave me a dirty look then looked back at her desktop. Some blood dripped onto my arm. I kept stroking Cyrus’s cheek gently.

Then I heard the sirens. I stood up and ran out to the entrance. The ambulance was stopping not very far away. I ran to it before the paramedics even got the gurney out.

One of them took him and put him in the back. “What happened?” He asked, strapping him into the gurney.

“He fell And hit his head…he took a beating too.”I was still worried.  I wanted to go with them. The medic nodded.

“We can’t take you. I’m sorry. We’ll take good care of him.” He got in the back and the ambulance took off. I watched it go as Mr. Wallace came and stood behind me.

“He’s gonna be ok, Kid. Go on back to the gym and get your stuff. Seems like you’re the only one lookin’ out for that poor kid. Keep an eye on him will ya?” He smiled and patted my back once more before walking back to the office. I followed him inside, then went back to the gym. Some of my friends we’re concerned. I shrugged them off and told them I couldn’t talk. I grabbed my stuff and didn’t bother changing. I sat out on the track alone, watching everyone else, only half of me really being there. I was mentally stuck on Cyrus. There was something about that boy that drew me to him. He was so handsome. But, he seemed so nice. I could tell something made him very withdrawn. I wouldn’t pry, but I’d investigate.

I texted Angelique and told her to meet me at my car. When I got there, she was leaning against my car.

“Jaxon, what happened? Someone told me Harry got to Cyrus again.” She ran up to me and hugged me tight. I hugged back.

“I gotta go to the hospital. Wanna come or do you want me to drop you off?” I was getting in my car and saw Harry coming.

Angelique spat in his direction. He saw and looked grossed out. She chuckled. “Hell yeah I’m coming, Cyrus is my friend too.” She tossed her bag and books in the back and sat in the passenger seat.

The hospital was close, so we got there quickly. I put on my light zip-up jacket and got out, still in my gym shorts. Angelique followed me into the hospital.

“Jaxon, they won’t let us just go see him, especially since they don’t know who we are…” Angelique said while pulling out her phone. “Cyrus had his phone right?”

“Yeah, I think it was in his jacket pocket. I felt it when I picked him up I think.” I looked around.

She dialed his number. “Hello?...Oh, uh, Hi, I’m Angelique, one of Cyrus’s friends. I’m here with Jaxon in the lobby…Yeah, of course we want to see him…Ok…Alright thanks so much! We’ll be right up.” She hung up and put her phone in her pocket. “Some Julian guy answered. Come on, I know where his room is.” She smiled And led me to an elevator. I got in with her, and a couple other people got in before the doors closed. We rode up one floor then Angelique got out and started walking. I followed her, caught up in my thoughts about Cyrus. I couldn’t stop worrying. Would he be ok? Would he have any permanent damage?

Angelique stopped abruptly and looked up at the door to check the room number. “This is it.” She said. She opened the door and we walked in. Cyrus was laying in bed, his eyes closed. He was bandaged around his head. Julian stood next to his bed.

“Julian, is he ok?”I walked over quickly, and looked at Cyrus. He still had the bruises and everything. I looked at Julian. His I.D. hung from the pocket of his lab coat thingy, and he wore a Pikachu Tie, a collared shirt, . Wonder where he pulled that out of.

“Yes, he’s fine. Just needs some rest, and some time for those bruises to heal. He should be outta here by tomorrow afternoon.” He smiled. Something vibrated in his pocket. He pulled out his cell phone. “Oh, great. I gotta take this, guys.” He walked out. Angelique and I stood at either side of his bed. I stood and looked at him. He seemed very peaceful. He was adorable when he slept. I looked out the window. There was a nice view.

“Jaxon, dad says we gotta come home.” She sighed and hugged Cyrus then walked out. I looked around and leaned down to kiss his forehead where it wasn’t bandaged. His skin felt so soft. I blushed and hurried out to follow Angelique.

Once we were out in my car, Angelique put the seat all the way back. “Now, HOMEWARD PEASANT CARRAIGE DRIVER. I WANT MY CHILI.” She screamed, over dramatically. I laughed and started driving home.
