Just So You Know: You and Dally are friends, you are 16, he is 17.

<Dally's POV>

I couldn't help it. The way her voice hit the exact right notes, how her chest heaved every time she sang a high note. Her voice was angelic. I didn't realize I was smiling at her until she looked at me and chuckled.

"Dally, who got you smiling like that?" (SORRY I HAD TO) She asked. I shook my head. I tried to get her out of my head. Her gorgeous smile, the way her hair shines in the sun.

I refused to believe I was falling for her. After all, we are best friends.

But I want it to be more than that. I'm just scared that she'll reject me and our friendship won't be the same anymore. Or, even worse, that I'll hurt her if she says yes.

<Your POV>

Dally and I were cuddling on the couch, watching Saw 3. I covered my eyes a lot, I could stand blood but to a certain extent. I jumped at one part, when her rib cage got ripped open. Dally pulled me closer to him.

"It's OK, Y/N." He comforts me, stroking my hair.

Dally and I have been friends ever since I bought him a chocolate bar in second grade. And ever since then my feelings for him have grown. Like I want us to be more than friends but I don't know how he feels about it. He once told me that "Dally doesn't do love."

I fell asleep soon after the movie ended. And when I woke up in the morning, Dally was staring at me, wide awake.

"Dal! You scared me." I say, sitting up and rubbing my eyes. I looked around, Darry was making breakfast, Two-Bit and Ponyboy were wrestling for the TV remote, and Soda and Steve were most likely at work already. Johnny sat on the couch in silence.

"Hey, Johnnycakes." I say with a smile.

"Hey, Y/N." He returns the smile. I stand up and look at Dally, who is looking me up and down. I blush and look at myself. My shorts were rolled up, so it looked like I was wearing booty shorts. My tank top was messed up so a bit of my bra showed. My belly showed as well, showing the belly button piercing I got when I was 13.

I couldn't help but feel excited. Dally just looked me up and down!

<Dally's POV>

She blushed. She blushed! Does this mean she likes me? Or not. Goddamnit! Why did I have to fall in love with her? I'm Dallas Winston! I don't do love!

I needed to tell her. Otherwise, my heart is going to ache the rest of my fucking life.

<Your POV>

I needed to tell Dallas how I felt. I planned on doing it after breakfast. Maybe go for a drive or something. I just needed to figure out how.

Hey, Dal, I love you a lot.

No, that's too blunt.

You know, Dal, I've liked you for a while now.

Too professional. What about a pick up line?

Your eyes are like IKEA. I could get lost in them.

Ha! I cringe inwardly.

Dal and I didn't make eye contact for the rest of the day. It wasn't until Darry left for work and Pony and Johnny left for school that I finally talked to him.

"Wanna go for a drive, Dal?" I ask, washing down the dining table.

"Sure." He says. He grabs his coat and keys and I follow him outside and into his car.

"Where you wanna go?" He asks me.

"Oh. Just around." I respond. It was an awkward drive. I didn't know what to say or do. Finally, we both decided to speak. And it was at the same time.

I said "Hey, Dal, I need to tell you something."

While he said "Man, you've been on my mind a lot lately."

I blushed and looked down at my hands.

"Sorry. You go first." I say. He nods.

"You've been on my mind a lot lately. Man, I-I just don't want to be friends." He says. My heart sinks.

What?

"I want you to be my girl, man." He finishes, and I smile, taking his hand in mine.

"Yes, Dal. That's what I want, too." I say.

"Great! We should go roller skating." He says absent mindedly.

"Why?" I ask.

"Well, you know, I-it's like a cute date thing, all couples do it." He responds. I nod.

"Sure." I say.

When we get to the Roller Skating rink, Dallas pays for 2 pairs of roller skates. I tie the laces on mine. Dally makes me do his for him.

"I don't know how!" He exclaims. I chuckle. He grabs my hand and we skate onto the floor. He smiles as he spins me around. I slide over a wrapper and lose my balance. I land straight on my butt.

Dally starts laughing at me. I pout.

"Sorry, doll." He says, grabbing my hand and helping me up. His hand now rests on my waist.

"So, how has Buck's been?" I ask, to break the silence.

"Oh. It's alright, I guess. He throws good parties." Dally responds. I nod. Just then, my favourite song started playing.

I gasp and Dallas smiles.

"Come on!" I shriek, pulling his hand towards the middle of the dance floor. I sing along to it, Dally spinning me around in circles.

For a while there it was rough

But lately I've been doing better

Than the last four cold Decembers I recall

And I see my family every month

I found a girl my parents love

She'll come and stay the night, and I think I might have it all

(Beautiful Things by Benson Boone)

When the song was finished, I hugged Dally and he pulled me even closer. I looked up into his eyes. Then he pushed his lips against mine. I smiled as I pulled away.

"Thank you, Dal." I say quietly.

"For what?" He asks.

"For loving me when no one else could."
