CC snapped her fingers, and a sky-blue curtain rolled down over the mirror, shimmering like the fabric on her loom. Percy stared at the blue cloth, unsure of what she meant by her question.
"I don't—" He began, but then the cloth changed colors. His reflection shimmered into view, but it wasn't just a reflection—it was a perfected version of himself. Percy saw a cooler version of Percy Jackson, impeccably dressed with a confident smile on his face. His teeth were straight, his complexion flawless, his tan perfect, and he appeared more athletic, standing a bit taller than usual. It was him, but without the faults.
"Whoa," Percy managed, awestruck by the transformation.
"Do you want that?" CC asked, her voice filled with promise. "Or shall I try a different—"
"No," Percy interrupted. "That's ... that's amazing. Can you really?"
"I can give you a full makeover," CC promised with a gleam in her eye.
"What's the catch?" Percy asked, wary of the sudden offer. "I have to, like, eat a special diet?"
"Oh, it's quite easy," CC replied casually. "Plenty of fresh fruit, a mild exercise program, and, of course, this."
She stepped over to her wet bar and filled a glass with water before ripping open a drink-mix packet and pouring in some red powder. The mixture began to glow, transforming into a strawberry milkshake.
"One of these, substituted for a regular meal," CC explained. "I guarantee you'll see results immediately."
"How is that possible?" Percy questioned, a hint of skepticism in his voice.
C.C. chuckled. "Why question it? I mean, don't you want the perfect you right away?"
Something didn't sit right with Percy. "Why are there no guys at this spa?" he asked, sensing a discrepancy in the spa's clientele.
"Oh, but there are," C.C. assured Percy with a mysterious smile. "You'll meet them quite soon. Just try the mixture. You'll see."
Percy hesitated, eyeing the blue tapestry and the reflection that wasn't quite him. C.C. handed him the glass, and he lifted it to his lips. The drink tasted exactly like a strawberry milkshake, but almost immediately, a warm sensation spread through his gut, turning into a searing pain that made him double over. He dropped the cup, panic rising within him.
