━━ chapter v, a new quest !
˗ˏˋ being an empath is like seeing with the soul. 'ˎ˗
As Annabeth stood before them, her expression grave, Percy and Dyana exchanged glances filled with a mixture of anticipation and trepidation. They had abandoned their cleaning duties without a second thought, their urgency propelling them straight to Athena's cabin. Dyana had barged in, her usual smile plastered across her face, earning strange looks from the cabin's occupants, before firmly dragging Annabeth out into the open.
Once outside, the trio wasted no time in sharing their news with Annabeth. Dyana's voice bubbled with excitement as she recounted the details of Percy and Grover's empathy link, how Percy had conversed with Grover in his dreams, and the revelation of the golden fleece as their potential salvation.
Annabeth listened intently, her brow furrowed in thought as she absorbed the information. "Polyphemus," she muttered, her tone tinged with concern and frustration. "The worst of the Cyclopes. And there's only one place his island could be. The Sea of Monsters. The same sea Odysseus sailed through, and Jason, and Aeneas, and all the others."
Percy's heart sank at the weight of Annabeth's words. The Sea of Monsters, a treacherous expanse fraught with danger and mythical creatures, a place steeped in legend and peril. The same sea that had been traversed by Odysseus, Jason, Aeneas, and countless other heroes of myth.
"You mean the Mediterranean?" Percy asked.
"Well – " Started Dyana.
"No." Annabeth cut her off. "Look, Percy, the Sea of Monsters is the sea all heroes sail through on their adventures. It used to be in the Mediterranean, yes. But like everything else, it shifts locations as the West's center of power shifts. The Sea of Monsters is off the east coast of the U.S. now, just northeast of Florida. The mortals even have a name for it."
"The Bermuda triangle." Dyana clarified.
As Percy absorbed the Sea of Monsters' current location, the gravity of their quest settled upon them like a heavy shroud. The once-familiar waters of the Mediterranean had shifted, mirroring the changing tides of history and power. Now, the Sea of Monsters lay off the east coast of the U.S., a perilous expanse known to mortals as the Bermuda Triangle.
Dyana's clarification only emphasized the magnitude of their task, highlighting the treacherous reputation of the Bermuda Triangle and the countless mysteries that shrouded its depths.
Percy tried to maintain a sense of confidence in the face of their daunting mission.
"Okay ... so at least we know where to look," he muttered, trying to reassure himself.
