Percy didn't like that Dyana was going with Clarisse to the quest at all. Every one of the Ares' kids didn't even volunteer to go with Clarisse because they know she always does things alone. Too proud for her own good. But then she took Dyana, the one person that has very – and he thought this in the nicest way possible – minimal skills in combat training. She's amazing at art, an awesome friend to talk to, but quest to retrieve the golden fleece and a satyr? That didn't sound very convincing.
Percy's mind churned with a mix of emotions as he processed the news. Him and Dyana weren't even friends like that. Yes, of course they are friends, dyana can be friends with anyone. but they weren't at all close yet. He was sort of panicking for some reason. He felt a pang of jealousy gnawing at him, a twinge of frustration at not being the one chosen for the quest. But more than anything, he was consumed by the thought of Dyana going on a quest with Clarisse.
Despite their budding friendship, Percy and Dyana weren't particularly close. They shared moments of camaraderie and lighthearted banter, but they hadn't yet formed the deep bond that would make him feel comfortable entrusting her life to others. Yet, the thought of her going on such a dangerous journey with Clarisse, of all people, made him feel strangely... odd.
Perhaps it was jealousy that he felt. Or maybe a little bit of concern? Frustrated? Very. Whatever it was, Percy wanted to go on the quest instead. He had to go.
They didn't even have time to say goodbye when Dyana ran straight from the bathroom to Athena's cabin and told Annabeth about Clarisse asking her (well, more like ordering her) to go on the quest with the ares' child. Percy woke up and found out the news from Annabeth, and she told him that Dyana and Clarisse had left 3 hours before he had woken up.
In Dyana's case, she had been walking with Clarisse for hours and they had not spoken a word since they left the camp. Clarisse never told her why she had brought a girl who does light tricks to the quest. Dyana had no powerful attributes whatsoever. The only thing she's good at was archery and even that was proven to be wrong during their fight with the colchis bull. They were walking towards liberty station to catch a ferry down to Florida, and even that piece of information wasn't shared with Dyana. Clarisse was just running everything and Dyana followed her like stupid dog.
They stopped at a small alleyway, about 5 mins away from the ferry dock. Clarisse looked at her watch before looking at Dyana, "Give me a drachma."
"Hmm?" Dyana asked.
"I need to make a call, give me a drachma."
"Oh yeah, hold on," Dyana went inside her pocket but stopped before realizing something, "Wait, you need to make a call?"
