Warning: This one is a big red flag, but it's never mentioned i am just alluding to it. Tell me if i should add it as a warning. I am so bad at warnings.

One fateful day, the routine morning bickering with his twin sister marked the beginning of what would become the worst day of Hyunjin's life. Their mom, seemingly unfazed by their exchange, offered them a warm smile before sending them off to campus. Little did Hyunjin know that the events unfolding that day would shatter the semblance of normalcy he had taken for granted.

Growing up, Hyunjin harbored a curiosity about his father, a figure absent from his life. The desire to know more about the man who contributed to half of his existence lingered in the back of his mind. He often shared his curiosity with his twin sister, Yeji, who, in contrast, seemed content with the way things were. Despite having everything he could ask for – a caring mother, a lovable albeit annoying sister, a comfortable home, and the pursuit of his dream major in which he excelled – the mystery of his father remained an unanswered question.

Hyunjin had attempted to broach the subject with his mother, seeking information about his elusive father. However, each inquiry met with evasion or silence. It became clear that his father was a sensitive topic for his mom, and Hyunjin couldn't help but wonder about the reasons behind her guarded silence. Did his father leave them? Was there infidelity involved, or did he simply not know about Hyunjin's existence?

Years went by, and Hyunjin eventually resigned himself to the idea that he might never learn the truth. The questions faded into the background as he focused on other aspects of his life. Yet, as fate would have it, the universe had its way of bringing answers when least expected.

On that particular day, his professor assigned a task that required delving into the recesses of memory, prompting Hyunjin's mind to immediately wander towards the dusty confines of the attic. A space relegated to storage and forgotten relics. Neither he, his mother, nor Yeji had spared much thought for the items accumulating in the attic, but Hyunjin was aware of the sentimental value attached to some of his mother's possessions stored there.

Rummaging through the dusty boxes, he explored items untouched for years. The monotonous act came to an abrupt halt when his gaze fell upon a box labeled "Court Documents." Intrigued and perplexed, he questioned the necessity for such documents in their family history. His curiosity drove him to open the small box, unfolding a narrative that answered the questions he had harbored for so long. The truth lay bare before him, an answer to the very inquiry that had lingered in the recesses of his mind.

In the profound silence of the attic, Hyunjin's eyes traced the revelations etched on the court documents. The truth unfolded before him, unraveling the mystery that had long eluded him. The answer to the question that had lingered in the recesses of his mind now stared back at him in stark clarity. It was a truth he had sought, yet now, confronted with its stark reality, he wished he had never ventured into the shadows of the past.

Tears welled in his eyes, a cascade of emotions threatening to engulf him. The weight of the truth bore down on his shoulders, and before he could comprehend the depth of his discovery, he broke down. In the solitude of the attic, he grappled with a visceral disgust, a sensation that churned within him like an unsettling storm. The confidence he once carried, the assuredness of his identity, vanished into the abyss of uncertainty.

As the echoes of his sobs reverberated in the quiet space, a relentless refrain echoed in his mind – he shouldn't have asked. The question that had driven him to seek the truth now haunted him with remorse. The discomfort in his own skin became palpable, a suffocating reality that left him on the precipice of nausea.

Amidst the tumult of emotions, a singular question dominated his thoughts – did Yeji know? In the shadows of his despair, he vowed to shield his sister from the burden of the truth. If the revelation had cast him into the depths of despair, he couldn't fathom inflicting the same pain upon her. The knowledge of his discovery would become a solemn secret, buried deep within him, destined to accompany him to the end of his days.
