WARNİNGS: İMPLİED SELF HARM AND A LİTTLE BLOOD!!!
Seungmin meticulously donned his finest clothes. Unlike most other students who paid little attention to their appearance for class, Seungmin had a reputation to uphold. As the son of the CEO of the country's premier electronics company, he was deeply entrenched in a world where connections meant everything. While he might have aspired to pursue careers such as a musician, producer, or director, Seungmin's path was already predetermined—he was destined to become the next CEO, or the spare that is.
Despite his profound love for music, Seungmin's ultimate goal was to make his family proud. just as his older brother Seokjin always did. Seungmin strived to be the perfect son, speaking only when spoken to, excelling in every class, earning praises from teachers, and displaying impeccable manners. Yet, in the eyes of his family, he often felt like a disappointment. There were moments when he questioned if he had truly lived life to the fullest, constantly trying to be a person he knew he could never completely become. Still, he reassured himself that it was worth it. Recognition from his family would eventually come, and then he would be truly happy.
Before leaving his apartment near the campus, Seungmin checked himself in the mirror one last time. Satisfied, he headed out, anticipating the excitement of the new semester. As he settled into his seat in class, the professor announced, "We are voting for our department student representative again today. Who wants to be a candidate?"
Without hesitation, Seungmin raised his hand. Having held the position the previous year, he had worked diligently, earning the admiration of professors. Being the department student representative was a demanding role, and few students were willing to take it on. Yet, for Seungmin, the benefits were clear—it enhanced his applications and brought him to the attention of the faculty. Most importantly, the first time he had told his father about being chosen as a representative, he received a nod of approval. To anyone else, it might have seemed trivial, but for Seungmin, that nod was the equivalent of a heartfelt "good job" from his father. There was no doubt that he would be chosen again; after all, there was no one else willing to take on this responsibility.
What Seungmin hadn't expected was for someone else to raise their hand as well. He couldn't believe his eyes – was that Lee Chaeryeong, raising her hand? Hadn't she explicitly mentioned that she wasn't interested when someone inquired before? Before Seungmin could contain his surprise, the voting began. After the votes had been tallied, it was time for the result.
"The department's new representative is Chaeryeong. Congratulations," the professor declared. Seungmin froze in his spot. He thought he had done a good job, so why then? He quickly sat back down in his seat, the person next to him noticing his sour mood.
The lecture ended, and Seungmin hastily followed Chaeryeong. "Chaeryeong, wait!"
The shorter girl halted and turned, signaling for her friends to continue. Seungmin caught up, breathing a little heavily from the rush.
"What is it? Let me guess, you're mad that I also became a candidate," she asked, sounding sure of herself.
Seungmin sighed, running a hand through his hair in frustration. "If you wanted to hurt me, you could have punched me, you know? Would have hurt less."
"How stupid do you think I am, Seungmin? Why would I want to hurt you?"
Seungmin looked away for a moment, a mix of embarrassment and frustration on his face. "I don't know, since you obviously still like her—" Before he could finish his sentence, Chaeryeong held up a hand to stop him.
"Look, just because we both liked Ryujin, and she chose you, and then you basically used her as a sexuality experimenting device doesn't mean I still hold a grudge against you."
