Felix couldn't shake his concern for Jeongin, but Changbin's reassurance helped ease his worries, at least for the time being. However, an awkward atmosphere settled in between them, leaving Felix pondering how to break the ice. He didn't want their interactions to be clouded by unspoken worries, but before he could gather his thoughts, Changbin spoke up.
"Hey, maybe you wanna grab some food with me?" Changbin suggested, catching Felix off guard.
Felix considered the invitation, weighing it against his plans for the day. He wanted to accept—he appreciated the company—but he had taekwondo practice later. Still, he was touched by Changbin's offer.
"I... uh, thanks, Changbin. But I think I'll pass for now." When Changbin winced, Felix quickly clarified, not wanting him to misunderstand. "I said no because I have taekwondo practice, dummy."
Hearing this, Changbin let out a sigh of relief. "I was scared I triggered you. Are you okay with us going out to eat someday?"
Felix smiled, appreciating Changbin's thoughtfulness. Maybe befriending him would be good for him after all. "You don't have to worry, I am tougher than I look and I've been getting better. So yeah, I would like to go eat with you someday. You know what, why don't I take you out for dinner? There is this great restaurant that I went to for one of my assignments. You'll learn what good food really tastes like," Felix teased.
As they bantered, Felix found himself warming up to Changbin's playful demeanor. He hadn't expected Changbin to be so charming, and he could see why others might be drawn to him. Maybe this was a sign that he needed to relax a little and give Changbin a chance.
"Well, I think I have really good taste in food thank you very much. But I am a gentleman, so of course, I won't refuse the offer to go grab some food with a cute guy," Changbin teased back, earning a smile from Felix. So Changbin was that kind of guy.
"But you know what I would like more than to go to a restaurant with a cute guy?" Changbin continued, grinning. Felix, still smiling, shook his head in amusement. "Eating the food a cute guy made for me." Felix crossed his arms and shook his head while smiling even wider. He didn't know why, but Changbin's flirty demeanor felt surprisingly refreshing.
Felix licked his lips before speaking. "I don't just cook for anyone, you know," he grinned.
"Well, someday you are going to cook for me, you know," Changbin said confidently.
Now Felix was intrigued by Changbin's certainty. Why was he so sure they would become close friends?
"What makes you so sure?" Felix asked.
Changbin met Felix's gaze with confidence. "Because I have this gut feeling, Felix. Sometimes, you just know when someone's going to play a significant role in your life."
Felix raised an eyebrow, amused by Changbin's optimism. He couldn't help but admire the certainty in his words. It was an unexpected yet pleasant change of pace. "You're quite the optimist, aren't you, Changbin? Well, I suppose time will tell."
Changbin grinned, undeterred by Felix's playful skepticism. "Time will indeed. And when that day comes, you'll be whipping up something extraordinary in the kitchen, and I'll be the lucky one savoring every bite."
Felix chuckled, feeling a warmth settle between them. As Felix considered Changbin's infectious optimism and their growing camaraderie, he found himself unexpectedly charmed by the idea of forging a new friendship. Changbin's confidence and enthusiasm were refreshing, and Felix couldn't help but think that it might bring some much-needed lightness to his life.
Changbin broke Felix's train of thought with a grin and a playful nudge. "So, tell me more about your taekwondo practice. Do you compete or just train?"
Felix shifted his focus to the question. "I mostly train, but I do compete from time to time. It's a good way to challenge myself and stay sharp. Plus, it helps me clear my mind and stay focused."
Changbin nodded in understanding. "That's cool. I've always admired martial arts, but I never got around to trying it myself. Maybe one day I'll come watch you in action."
Felix smiled at the thought. "You should! It can be pretty intense, but it's a lot of fun too. And it would be nice to have a friendly face in the audience."
Felix appreciated Changbin's genuine curiosity and willingness to learn about his interests. It was a refreshing change from the usual superficial interactions he often had with others. He found himself opening up more to Changbin, letting his guard down a bit.
As the conversation continued, they found themselves discussing their hobbies and aspirations, sharing stories and laughing along the way. Felix was pleasantly surprised by how easily he could talk to Changbin. It was as if they had known each other for much longer than they actually had.
Eventually, the conversation turned to plans for their upcoming dinner. Changbin expressed his excitement at trying the restaurant Felix had recommended, and Felix found himself looking forward to their outing as well. It would be a nice break from his routine and a chance to enjoy good company.
As they wrapped up their conversation, Felix realized he that he had taken his time talking to Changbin, when he saw what time it was.
"Oh no," Felix exclaimed, checking his watch with a worried expression. "I completely lost track of time! I have to go—taekwondo practice starts soon!"
Changbin raised an eyebrow and offered a playful salute. "Don't let me keep you! Go kick some serious butt in practice!"
Felix grinned, a touch of panic in his eyes as he gathered his things quickly. "Thanks, Changbin! I'll see you soon for dinner, yeah?"
Changbin gave him a thumbs-up. "Absolutely! Looking forward to it. Now go!"
Felix dashed off with a wave, a mixture of excitement and anxiety in his steps. He knew he'd need to hurry to make it to practice on time, but despite the rush, he couldn't help but smile. Changbin's friendly demeanor had left him with a sense of optimism and a glimmer of hope for the potential of a genuine, lasting friendship.
As he made his way to his taekwondo practice, Felix's thoughts raced ahead to his next conversation with Changbin and the dinner plans they'd made. But for now, his focus had to shift back to his training and the martial arts mat ahead of him.
