"Do you need any help?"

"No, mom, I can get out of the car myself." Callie replied through gritted teeth.

"You don't have to be strong now, honey, let me just-"

"Stevie." Lindsey lay a hand on her shoulder, she turned to look at him. "She's doing fine. She's just getting out of the car."

"I know, but..." Stevie pursed her lips and took a step back so Callie could finally get out. "Give me that bag." She held out her hand when Jack was about to sling the strap over his shoulder.

Lindsey shook his head, rolling his eyes subtly. Stevie simply wanted to help, but it had only been a couple of days since the birth of their granddaughter and Callie wanted nothing more than to be left alone and hopefully get some rest.

"Watch your step." Stevie said, pushing the front door open.

"Mom, please." Callie sighed, entering the house unharmed.

Lindsey put his arm around Stevie's waist and pulled her back a little, allowing Jack to take care of the mother of his child instead. Of course Stevie wanted to argue, but Lindsey turned her around, gently took her hands in his and brought them up to his lips.

"You're not always going to be there." Lindsey spoke softly. "Let them get used to their new roles. I know that you're doing this out of love, but let them breathe a little, okay?"

Arms crossed over her chest, Stevie shifted her gaze somewhere past Lindsey's shoulder. "Fine."

"Thank you." Lindsey smiled, pulling her back in closer, hugging her to his chest for a moment, he pressed a kiss to her hair.

"Mom!"

Stevie's eyes grew wide and she instantly pushed Lindsey away to run to Jack and Callie's room. She burst in, ready for absolutely anything. Callie stared at her, a smirk on her lips, she couldn't keep in a chuckle.

"Relax. No emergency here." Callie assured. "I just- could you please stay with Emma for a minute? Jack forgot some things in the car and I really have to go to the bathroom."

"Of course!" Stevie approached Callie and held out her arms to take her granddaughter. "You sure, you'll be okay in the bathroom by yourself?"

"Mom..." Callie sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.

"I'm just saying! Going to the bathroom after giving birth-"

"Mom, stop." Callie begged, watching Jack bolt out of the room. "You just keep a close eye on my daughter, alright? I'll be back in a moment."

Stevie carefully sat down on the bed, cradling Emma to her chest. It felt like it was yesterday that Callie told her the news. Excited, she looked at the scared expression on her daughter's face, realizing how much her life was going to change. Little did she know, her own life took an unexpected turn, bringing happiness she hadn't felt in years along with it. Now there she was, holding her first grandbaby, so tiny in her arms. Seemingly just a few short months had passed, though everyone's lives had changed forever.

"Hey." Lindsey finally spoke up, having stood in the doorway for a minute or two.

"Oh, hi." Stevie looked up at him, a smile on her face. "I can't believe she's here."

"I know." Lindsey nodded, walking into the room and towards Stevie, he sat down beside her. "I can't believe you're a grandmother."

"Ah!" Stevie gasped, narrowing her eyes at him. "How dare you?"

"It's okay." Lindsey put his arm around her shoulders. "I'm a grandpa. And at such a young age!" He added jokingly. He leaned against Stevie and rested his chin on her shoulder, looking down at baby Emma. "We're going to spoil her rotten."

"Absolutely." Stevie nodded her head, lifting her arms a little higher to press a kiss to Emma's forehead. "I love you, sweet girl."

Lindsey smiled, circling his arms around Stevie's waist, he kissed her cheek. "I love you both."
