Tw: strong swearing, mentions of abuse

Friday 8th June, 07:32 am

The sound of my alarm on my bedside table woke me up. Everything that happened at dinner came back to my memory and I think I could have literally screamed. I didn't though, because Lily was stirring in her sleep next to me. We both had school, so I turned off my alarms and turned on the shower.

School for me started at 9 but Lily's school started at 8:15, poor kid. Anyway, my mom's a lazy fucker so I take her to school. I don't mind because I would rather do it than my mom.

I got in the shower and washed my hair and body quickly, then got out. I changed into my joggers and then scrunched my hair with a towel in a poor attempt to dry it. When I got out of the bathroom, Lily was sitting up and coloring in a picture from the coloring book I kept in my bedside table drawer, along with crayons for Lily.

"Hey, Lils." I said as I pulled a white t-shirt out of my clothes drawer and threw it on. "How you feeling?"

"Good, I guess." She replied focused on her coloring.

"That's good. You gonna get ready for school?" I asked as I walked back into my bathroom and started brushing my teeth.

"Yeah, in a second. I'm almost finished." She said from my bed as I heard her color her picture in quicker.

"Okay. Want to go get breakfast? Dad should have sent me money today." I asked her through rinsing my mouth.

"What kind of breakfast?" She asked curiously, "You mean like sausage muffins?"

"Yes, if that's what you want." I said as I walked back into my room and sat at my desk. I turned my chair around so it was facing my bed and not my monitor.

"Do we have time?" She asked as she climbed out of my bed leaving the crayons and book on my bed. She sat on the end of my bed and furrowed her eyebrows.

I checked my phone, "Yeah, we have time."

"Okay. I'll get dressed." Lily climbed off of my bed and ran into her room. Not even a minute passed and she ran back into my room dressed, shoes and hair brushed.

"Did you brush your teeth?"

"Why? We're about to go and eat." She has a point to be fair.

"Never mind. Don't complain that you feel like your breath smells." I laughed.

"I don't wanna go to school today. Can we go to Felix's instead?" Lily smiled eagerly.

"Yeah, why not. I'm sure he won't mind." I said as I unlocked my phone and pulled up my dad's contact. I pressed dial and it took only a few seconds before he answered.

"Dan? Everything okay?" He said.

"Kind of. Mom had a go at us for no reason yesterday. Lils slept in my room last night and now she wants to skip school and come see you." I explained.

"I'll call the schools. Tell them you're both sick. When do you want me to come and get you guys?" My dad is so different to my mom.

"Well, we were gonna go and get sausage muffins before Lily had to be in. Sooo, if you wanna come and get us now then we can go out for breakfast." I responded happily.

"Felix, can I bring my coloring?" Lily jumped on my arm and pulled my phone towards her to talk.

"Of course, flower. Bring your new dolls I want to meet them. You have to tell me all of their names again I forgot." I love my dad so much. He's so nice and chill. I wish Lily was my full sister and not just half. My dad is so good to her. He calls her 'flower' because her name is Lily like the flower. It's so sweet.
