Wednesday 11th February, 08:58am
The nurses had put Eden in recovery room 10 almost 2 hours ago now. She was exhausted, I told her to go to sleep and let her body recover, but she didn't want to leave our baby. I told her I'd look after our baby to calm her nerves.
I was holding Emma in the arm chair, just looking at her, she was definitely mine, and definitely Eden's. She had light brown hair, with bright green eyes and the smallest nose. She had a little birth mark in the shape of a crown on her left ankle, same as Eden's.
I looked over at Eden, she was in a very deep sleep, exhausted from all the pain she'd just been through. I wanted her to let me help her, but she's always been independent, so I needed to show her that I can do it for her, so she doesn't need to stress about anything.
My phone buzzed on the table next to me, I readjusted Emma in my arms, so I was cradling her with just my left arm. I reached over and picked up my phone, it was Connor, my dad, and my friend Sam.
Connor:
When can we come see you? 07:23am
Has she had her baby yet? 07:58am
Felix is worrying. 08:12am
Dude answer the goddam phone. 09:00am
Me:
Sorry, it's been hectic. 09:01am
I'm a DAD can you believe it? deffo my kid btw. 09:01am
You guys can all come down here but Eden's sleeping. You can meet the baby though. 09:02am
Dad:
Dan, haven't heard from you in a bit. Text me, call me just let me know everything's okay. 06:43am
Me:
Sorry dad, it's been hectic. I'm a dad now! You can all come see us, recovery room 10. Eden's sleeping though. My baby is right here with me. Very much awake, just staring at me lol. 09:03am
Sam:
Hey, haven't talked to you in a while, how's everything going? Connor told me you got Eden pregnant. Crazy. You're gonna be a dad. 08:26am
Text me when you get this, love ya. 08:26am
Me:
Really has been a while. In the hospital now with Eden, I am a dad, you haven't met Eden yet, but when she wakes up, I'll ask her if she's comfortable with you coming to see us. 09:05am
Sam:
Yeah fair enough, thanks and congratulations, can't believe you're growing up. 09:06am
Me:
I know right, crazy. 09:06am
It was nice seeing everyone's support texts and that. I decided to watch TikTok for a bit while Eden was sleeping, Emma was just staring, not quite sure what she was doing, but she was just staring at me.
My phone rang just as I put it down. I sighed and picked it up. It was my dad.
"Hello? Dad?" I asked into the phone.
"Hey, would you come to the front and tell these imbeciles that I'm just trying to see my son and granddaughter." My dad said with frustration in his tone.
"Yeah, I have to bring the baby, just so you know." I chuckled.
"That is perfectly fine." He laughed.
"Who's with you?" I asked out of curiosity.
"Flower, Alex and Connor. Like you said." My dad replied as he cleared his throat.
"Okay, thanks. I'll come now." I said. "In a bit."
"See you."
I stood up slowly and put my phone in my pocket. I readjusted Emma again so I could walk with her. I then opened and closed the door as quietly as I could to not disturb Eden.
