Before the mission, let me tell you about the briefing and planning we did and who we were going to take. Charlotte and Luke had meticulously planned their operation. Even Pen and I were surprised by the level of detail they had put into it. The target of their mission was Jeff Bug, a wealthy man who was attempting to expose Orphany's true nature to the public. Today, the Director issued a direct order to Charlotte and Luke: bring Bug back alive to Orphany's Headquarters. He needed to remain alive as he held valuable information about one of our most dangerous enemies. According to Luke, we can extract more information from him, provided he is kept alive. If he were to die before Charlotte could intervene, it would be a significant failure for Orphany.
"If things go south and Ace gets compromised, backup operatives will come and help fight with you. Jeff has a helicopter, uses it as Plan B's getaway vehicle, and flies back here. Pen will be guiding Ace through radio and cameras. Okay, that's it. Understood?"
All of us replied. After that, we immediately prepared for the upcoming mission. Pen is staying in the headquarters.
"Why do I feel that something is about to happen?" Pen nervously said to me.
I tried to calm him down and said, "Hey, keep yourself together, alright? We can do this. Have that confident attitude you had when we did our very first job." I confidently said.
He nodded his head and agreed with me. After that, I went to the elevator and went to the main floor of the building. Orphany is a hotel company, and they used that cover for their true intentions... luckily, they haven't been caught yet... After a few minutes, I got in a car that Orphany prepared for me. It was a car that had bulletproof windows and a bulletproof body.
"That should be a great present for you, Ace," Jay (Luke) said.
"It is. Thanks for this, Orphany." I happily replied.
"It has an auto-drive mode. It will also follow you wherever and whenever you call for it. Don't worry it doesn't drive recklessly, It follows traffic rules. That's for you and Pen." Lorelei (Charlotte) said.
"Okay, got the keys, let's get to work."
We used our aliases through any kind of long-distance contacts and calls in case an unknown individual is listening through our channels. Technology is something else these days...
[driving sound]
"Almost there?"
"Almost there, Pen."
"A'ight."
After a few minutes, I arrived at the building where the rich man's penthouse was. I parked the car and went to a place with not many people, then I grabbed the gear Orphany gave me. There, I saw multiple gadgets and tools that I could use. I recognized them all as I trained for it. I realized that the grappling hook wouldn't reach the floor I needed to go to.
"That won't reach the target floor, Ace. Use the elevator." Jay said.
"Why didn't I realize this earlier."
"You didn't train to be a dumb operative. Right, Ace?" Pen jokingly asked me.
"Shut up, Pen."
I walked inside the building and found the elevator. Pen warned me not to stare at cameras as it might draw suspicion to the camera operator on the floor.
[elevator ding sound]
"Remember the target floor? It was 223." Lorelei told me.
"Careful, Ace. Once you enter the floor, two guards will appear, and you might have to take them out silently. It's also trespassing." Jay nervously warned me.
