the chapter! |"Wukong. Do you understand what this means?" Nezha asked minutes after their argument ended. They argued over the fact that Wukong was definitely being self-centered and looking for trouble on purpose. Nezha sat back in his chair and Wukong was just still standing by the door. Seeking escape, but knew that wasn't going to be possible now. The FBI director; Nezha, was eyeballing him like a hawk would to their newly found prey. Except Wukong had been less prey to him. But Nezha wanted the others to start taking this more seriously.
"Wukong. You don't need to argue with me just to tell me that you wanted some attention."
"What! That is NOT what I was DOING-" Wukong spat briefly, he tried to keep calm about it. But that was hard to do. "But do it the wrong way and you may as well ask for the wrong kind. You are not a kid anymore, Kong. You are a man. START acting like IT." Nezha demands, sternly. It was as if he was staring through him. At his soul. Or where his head was at. Wukong's thinking before speaking early on during their heated argument set Nezha's mind elsewhere. As noticed.
"Forgive me, sir. I've just been-"
Distant.
Wukong's thoughts through the dark continued for him. Although Wukong knew that Nezha wasn't a mind reader, or a man who could move things with his mind. That's called telekinesis. Wukong nagged at himself.
"Been?" He pressed on. Waiting for Wukong to continue with his sentence. "Distant. Sir. I've been distant. I've just been dealing with so much since I last captured a criminal and been told to off myself from one just because I was once a homeless.. delinquent.." He soon says, looking away and noticing how fucked up his tie looked in the mirror. He didn't think Ao Lee really mentioned it. But it did look pretty bad.
Sighing in defeat. Turning away and ripping the stupid thing off and tossing it into the garbage bin. It looked dumb anyway. He told himself. Closing his eyes and just standing there. Rubbing them to prevent tears from escaping.
"Wukong."
He hears Nezha. Not turning to face him. While the latter stood up and walked away from behind his desk. Wukong felt weak. He felt like he was having the rug being pulled from beneath him. Or that's how it felt in any sense.
"I won't fire you. Because that isn't my job." Wukong hears. His ears twitch a bit like how a monkey's would while listening to their surroundings. "But. In order to fix what occurred. You are being sent on an undercover mission."
"Wait, what?"
| Wukong |
An undercover mission? Now of all times? I mean sure that shouldn't be surprising. But, I am just glad I wasn't getting fired. Was that what Buddha was talking to him about before I entered the office? Shivering briefly to think about what was going to happen to me while I was-- what was it that made me feel worried about again?
Oh right. I was going undercover to dress like a normal civilian. Then I hear the words; "You are in search of a gang called 'Viper'. Once you find them You are to seek aid by letting them have you join their cause. After you learn their teachings. And become a part of their organization, you will learn everything you can from their 'mystery shadow' who leads their underground-" Nezha went on and on about this subject for a while. Soon my hearing turned him out, ringing in my ears came. Then I hear him ask; "am I clear?" startling me from my daze. "Yes sir. At once sir." I blindly replied, without asking him what he said. Which was a mistake on my part. All I heard was the words 'gang', 'viper' and 'shadow'.
