The Saturday after was gross. All
mucky and rainy. It was a perfect day for a warm cup of coffee. Ever since Monday morning I've pretty much stayed packed up inside. Too worried about Ezra and I to walk out of the house.

I decided I would go to The Brew so I could get out.

The walk was awful. My dad had the car so I was stuck in the rain.

When I walked out of the coffee shop my hair was soaked. Every step I took my shoes mushed.

A car drives by slowly. I can barely make out the driver. It's Ezra.

I wait for what I hope to happen next. Him to open the passenger door in a sign of faith.

He starts to drive off.

My heart sinks into my stomach and chokes me as if I can't breathe.

Then the car stops.

He opens the passenger door.

I start to run toward the car. My wedges clumping on the concrete. As I get in I set down my coffee in the cup holder and close the door.

He says nothing, just slowly drives into an ally and puts the car in park.

I stare at him, at his lips. He starts to do the same and nudges his head closer toward me.

We kiss like there was nothing between us. Just the day at the bar. Like we didn't know each other passed that. That's how I wanted it to be.
