Once I got home from school I took out the address that withheld my relationship out of my purse.
I sat on my bed just looking at it for awhile.
Finally I got up and started getting ready.
My blue dress with my silver wedges were calling my name. As I slipped my shoes on on and straightened up my dress I looked in the mirror.
I hoped to see a grown woman. Someone that wouldn't have any trouble dating a teacher. To my luck, it was just me.
"Well your looking quite fancy," mom said as she snuck into my room, "special occasion?"
"I have a date," I said into my mirror, still focusing on my hair.
"May I ask who this date is?"
"You may not."
She looked taken aback by my response. I didn't want to get into that whole spiel of 'how my English teacher was my date' and how i've been going out with him since before school. That would be like a knife to the heart.
"I'm sorry mom, but this is kinda personal at the moment. I want to see where it goes first,"
She looked like she understood, but she still didn't like it.
"Alright, will you promise me that you won't shut me out? When you figure this out, include me. Please!"
I picked up a black statement necklace and started to put it on. She came over and latched it in the back. I stood there staring at us in the mirror, how much we have changed. I haven't looked at her the same since I found out about dad.
Back then there was a pink stripe in my hair and I ran around wearing black shorts on top of tights. Now I wear bright colored dresses and halter tops with knit sweaters.
Not just my hair has changed. I have too.

When I got to west oak avenue my heart skipped a beat. Walking up to the apartments was frightening.
I requested Ezra Fitz.
When the door clicked open I stepped inside waiting for my world to turn upside down.
