At The Osmani Haveli.

Haya's POV
The sun's rays were peeking through the thin curtains, casting a soft glow across my room. The chilly wind swirling around made me curl up tighter, like a ball, under my cozy duvet. I was blissfully lost in sleep, doing my favorite thing, until the ear-piercing voice of my mother shattered the tranquility.

"HAYA RAUF OSMANI!!! Yeh tumhe last warning mil rahi hai, agar ab bhi tum apne bistar se na uthi aur 5 minute me tayaar ho kar neeche na ai to mein khud wahan aajaon gi aur phir tumhara sir aur meri chappal hi baat karenge!"

Hearing this terrifying threat, I immediately scrambled out of bed and made a run for the bathroom. I didn't want my pretty face to have a painful meeting with my mother's slippers.

After hastily finishing my morning routine and changing into a light pink paneled skirt with a white tucked-in shirt, I stood in front of the mirror to get ready. As I brushed my hair, I thought, Well, while I'm getting ready, why not introduce myself? Hello! I'm Haya Rauf Osmani, as you might have gathered. I'm 18 years old and an A-levels student. Today is my first day, and I'm not nervous, just really excited. I prefer to wear western clothes outside the house, but always modest, never anything that would reflect my body too much.

I pulled my hair into a low ponytail and twisted it into a bun, then carefully wrapped a nude pink hijab over it. After applying some moisturizer, sunscreen, and a touch of mascara, I finished my look with a swipe of lip balm and a light spritz of perfume, subtle enough that no one would smell it from afar. Satisfied with my appearance, I grabbed my college bag and phone and headed downstairs for breakfast.

Entering the dining room, I greeted everyone aloud, "Assalam o Alaikum sab ko!" Everyone greeted me back, and I made my way to Dadi Jaan's chair. She looked up lovingly and placed a soft kiss on my cheek. "Walaikum Assalam, meri jaan, kaisi hain aap?"

I giggled, "Alhamdulillah, Dadi, mein theek hun." Then, putting on a mock crying face, I added, "Pr aap ki yeh zalim bahu ne tang kar ke rakha hua hai, sakoon se sone bhi nahi deti."

Mama smacked my head lightly from behind. "Mujhe bhi koi shauk nahi hai aap shehzaadi sahiba ko neend se baidaar karne ka. Pr agar aap bhul rhi hon to yaad dila doon ke college ka pehla din hai aaj aap ka, late hone ka irada to nahi hai, hmm?"

Everyone laughed as I pouted and took a seat next to Abbas bhai, who was eating his breakfast while suppressing his laughter. "Bari hasi aa rahi hai aap ko bhai?" I asked, furrowing my brows.

He looked at me and whispered, "Subha subha Ammi se bisti kar wa kar kesa laga tumhe?"

I glared at him and kicked his leg under the table. He winced and glared back while I smirked and started eating my breakfast. As I was about to take a second bite of the delicious pancakes made by Tayi Ammi, I heard heavy footsteps descending the stairs. Looking up, I saw a manly figure, descending the stairs in all glory.
