Ayaan's POV
After two long weeks of persistence, I finally succeeded in persuading Dadi to meet Hala and her parents. It had been a challenging task, but she ultimately agreed for my happiness. Now, we were all sitting in the living room, waiting for Dadi to arrive. The atmosphere was thick with tension, a palpable silence hanging in the air.

When Dadi finally entered the room, I felt the need to break the heavy silence. "Uh, Dadi, this is Hala and these are her parents," I said, gesturing towards them.

"Assalam o Alaikum," Hala's mother greeted warmly, followed by Hala.

"W Alaikum Assalam," Dadi replied, her voice measured and polite. "How are you all? I hope you didn't face any trouble getting here?"

"No, we had no trouble at all," Hala's father replied, his tone respectful.

"Well, that's very good to hear," Dadi said, her gaze shifting to Hala. "Hala?"

"Yes?" Hala answered softly.

"Come here, dear, sit with us," Dadi instructed gently.

Hala glanced at me for reassurance, and I gave her an encouraging nod. Taking a deep breath, she moved to the other couch and seated herself beside Dadi. With a warm smile, Dadi placed her hand over Hala's and said, "MashAllah, your daughter is very lovely."

They all smiled, and the conversation began to flow more naturally. It moved from one topic to another until Dadi asked, "Hala, dear, what are your plans after university?"

Before Hala could respond, her mother interjected, "Actually, Hala wants to pursue further studies in Germany, and we fully support her in this."

Dadi looked at me, then back at them. "So you mean that after marriage, Hala will go to Germany and Ayaan should also go there with her?"

Hala's father responded, "Yes. If both children agree, they will go to Germany after marriage."

Dadi gave me an accusatory look before nodding at them. As the evening wore on, they discussed marriage details, but when Hala's parents suggested setting a date, Dadi deferred, saying she would discuss it further before finalizing anything.

After Hala and her parents left, I returned to the living room where Dadi sat with a stoic expression. I knew I was in trouble for not informing her beforehand about Hala's plans to study in Germany. As I approached her, she said, "When were you planning to tell us, hmm? After you had already left for Germany?"

"Dadi, it's not like that. I just thought it would be appropriate—" I started, but she cut me off.

"Appropriate? Have we become so insignificant that you didn't think it necessary to tell us?" she snapped. I tried to explain, but she interrupted again, "Fine, go ahead with the marriage and go to Germany. We won't say anything about your decisions." She stormed away, with Abu, Taya Abu, and Yasmin Phuppo following her. Tayi Ammi and my cousins also left, while Ammi glared at me before leaving as well.

Only Haya, Abbas, and I remained. Abbas asked, "What now?"

"I'll convince Dadi, what else," I replied.

Abbas then asked, "By the way, do you really love Hala?"

"Yes, I like her," I said.

"Like?" he pressed.
