"WHY IS HE WITH SHREYAS SINCE THE MORNING?" a boisterous Hardik entered the room.
Jassi sighed. Never a moment's peace with this guy around. He kept his book on the bed and said, "What happened Har? Who is with Shreyas since the morning?"
"Rohit", he muttered.
Hearing Rohit's name Jassi's ears perked up, "Rohit bhaiya?"
He nodded uneasily, "Yeah. Rohit bhaiya."
"What did he do?" asked Jassi, taking his book back. Hardik lunged forwards and snatched it from him. "Harry" he said annoyed.
"What Harry?" mimicked Hardik. "Did you even understand what I said?"
"Yes I did, because I unlike you I really do know English", said Jassi sarcastically.
"Not the right time Jas", said Hardik.
Jassi sighed and kept down the book because Hardik looked genuinely sad. "What's wrong Harry?"
"Everything is wrong Jas", Hardik sighed. "Rohit bhaiya has stopped spending time with me, with us. Don't you see it as well?"
That's when Jassi began to pay attention because first, yes he had also noticed that Rohit was around Shreyas for a lot of time recently and second, Hardik calling Rohit bhaiya surely meant that the situation was quite serious.
"Harry", Jassi tried pacifying him. "Shreyas just came back from a surgery. As a captain as well as his elder brother, it is Rohit bhaiya's duty to be with him until he gets into a good mental space."
"Don't quote Rohit bhaiya to me Jassi", said Hardik angrily. "Tell me why are you acting as if you don't really care about it? I know that you are affected by this as well since you are Rohit bhaiya's first kid and all. Why are you not upset?"
"Even though I am upset, I can't really go and pull Rohit bhaiya away or snap at Shreyas and do something ridiculous", thought Jassi but didn't say it because he did not want to deal with an annoyed Hardik.
Instead, he chose to say, "That is because I know Harry that whatever happens, I- sorry we will always remain the same in Rohit bhaiya's eyes."
Hardik chuckled sadly, "That is just stupid philosophy Jassi. What if Rohit bhaiya replaces us someday?"
Even though Jassi's brain and a major part of his heart denied, in that very small portion of it, a flicker of insecurity arose.
His face seemed to have displayed it because Hardik immediately caught the slight changes in his expression and said, "There, you finally get what I wanted to say." Jassi nodded slowly.
"We will lose Rohit bhaiya Jas", said Hardik. "If we don't do something very soon."
Jassi sighed, "You have a plan."
Hardik nodded instantly, his face brightening up suddenly, "I do. But how did you know?"
"That's because", smile Jassi slightly. "I know you very well dummy."
Hardik nodded and began, "I think we should- ".
"Absolutely not the time for you to keep me in a foolish suspense", said Jassi sternly.
"Learn to appreciate the moment Jassi", said Harry disapprovingly.
"I was", said Jassi, "appreciating the moment, until you barged into the room."
Hardik coughed, "Continuing from where we left, I think we should ignore Rohit bhaiya for a day."
An amused Jassi said, "You sure you are a dad Har? Even Agastya would not make such idiotic plans."
