"Ugh!" I groaned and fell on top of the clothes piled on my bed. I couldn't figure out what to wear! I had already pulled half the clothes out of my closet and decided against them all. Being the new girl at school was hard enough, but the fact that everybody knew your father made it even worse.

I moved here last week because my dad's job moved. He was a dentist, the most well known dentist in the area in fact. He had millions of cheesy radio ads and TV commercials on every channel. He wanted to expand his business, so we were forced to move all the way from New York to North Carolina. Believe me, this change was bigger than it seems.

All my life I have lived in a huge apartment in the busiest part of New York. I was used to traffic. My parents had to choose the country-est part of North Carolina. There weren't any highways within miles of my house and we had the biggest yard I had ever seen. For most people, this would have been a dream. But not me. I was probably the clumsiest, non-outdorsey person alive.

"Summer!!" I heard my older brother, Hunter, call from not too far away. My door would probably be torn open any min-

"SUMMER!" he screamed, interrupting my thoughts and swinging the door open. As soon as he saw the giant clothes monster though, he froze. "What the heck happened to your clothes Summer?!"

"I, uh, was just trying to find an outfit for tomorrow..." I said quietly. Hunter walk over to the pile of clothes and examined it. After a minute, he pulled out a pair of dark wash skinny jeans and a gray, striped tank with a hot pink, polka-dotted accent pocket.

"Wear this. Don't worry, Sis, you'll be fine," he said giving me a genuine smile. I stood and stared at myself in my mirror for a minute, thinking about what he said. I had long, straight, brown hair with blonde highlights, bright green eyes, a nice smile with straight teeth and dimples, and a fairly nice body with a flat stomach. My brother on the other hand, had naturally dark brown hair with brown eyes.

"I hope so.." I told him.

"What are you so worried about?" Hunter asked me seriously, sitting on my bed and looking at me. I sat down next to him.

"I've never been anywhere outside of New York, Hunter. I don't know what the teens are like her," I admitted. "What if they don't like me? What if they think i'm weird? What if they make fun of me and call me a freak and shoot spitballs at me in class and-"

"Woah! Summer, calm down. Nobody is gonna shoot spitballs at you! You're not weird, Summer you're an amazing, beautiful, smart, funny girl. They will love you. I promise." Hunter wrapped his arms around me and I hugged him back. He may be an arrogant, jerk, but he's still my brother and he has his moments.

"Thanks, Hunter. So, what exactly did you barge into my room for?" I asked suddenly remembering his annoying entrance.

"Oh, yeah! You need to give Max a bath! He smells like a dog," he said scrunching his nose.

"Maybe that's because he IS a dog, Hunter!" I said giggling. Max was my miniature poodle.

"Whatever, just bathe him!" he pleaded before leaving my room.

I sighed and fell back on the bed as Max came up on the bed beside me. "Ewh, you do stink boy!" I said crinkling my nose. I picked him up and carried him into my bathroom to give him a bath. I would clean up my clothes later.

I grabbed some bubble bath and doggy shampoo out of the cabinet while the tub was filling up with water. Max was ready to bolt out of there as soon as he saw the water, but I blocked his way and shut the door tight before he could get away.

Two hours, a house full of bubbles, and two soaked teenagers later, I finally got Max smelling better. The first time I had tried to scrub him with shampoo, he slipped out of my hands and managed to wiggle his way between the slightly open door. I had to go bolting after him through the hallway, down the stairs, and into Hunter's room, where I found a very angry boy with a wet poodle shivering in his lap. Hunter had to help me get Max back into the bathroom. After two more escapes, and Hunter and I getting soaked, we finally got him clean.

"Wow, THAT took forever!" Hunter said exasperated.

"I know right, at least its over now and Max smells like a daisy," I grinned and looked at Max, who was lying on my bedroom floor. When I mentioned him smelling like a daisy, he got up and stalked away down the hallway. I swear, I think that dog could actually understand me sometimes!

"True that!" Hunter replied laughing. "I'm going to go take a shower," he said walking out of my room and to his bathroom, I supposed.

I turned around and studied my own bathroom. It now looked like a hurricane had past through it. There was water and bubbles everywhere, the container of shampoo was spilled all over the counter, and everything that USED to be on my sink, was now strewn all over the floor. I sighed as I realized that I now had to clean up, and I would get no help from Hunter. I walked down the hallway to the closet with all our towels and grabbed a few out. Just then, I heard a key in a lock and soon after the front door opened.

"Summer?" I heard my mom call. Oh no, she could NOT see this mess! She would have a panic attack! My mom was a total neat freak.

I bolted back to my bathroom and threw the towels on the floor to soak up the water and proceeded to quickly place all my toiletries back on my sink counter. When most of the water was soaked up I threw the towels in the laundry hamper, along with the wet clothes I was wearing, and jumped in the shower.

The warm water on my skin after the stressful afternoon felt good. I could not stay in there forever, though. I washed my hair and my body before getting out of the shower and slipping my robe on. I continued into my closet and decided to wear a pair of black leggings with a baggy sweater for the rest of the evening. Then, I forced myself to walked downstairs and face the wrath of my mother.

"Mom?" I called as I headed for the kitchen. When I reached the doorway I saw her chopping a cucumber, with the radio playing "Home," by Daughtry, in the background.

"Oh, hi, Summer!" she greeted as she turned around and saw me. "How was today?" she asked casually. Good! She didn't see any of the mess!

"It was.. eventful," I decided on.

"Really? What happened?" she gave me a curious look. Whoops.

"Oh.. Um... Just.. deciding what to wear tomorrow and stuff. Ya know, 'first day' and everything," I said avoiding her gaze.

"Don't worry, Sweetie! You will be fine!" Phew, she bought it. Well, it wasn't a lie.

"I know. Thanks, Mom," I told her before retreating to the living room. That was a close call.

Hunter was already lounging on the couch when I got there, so I sat in the recliner. He smirked at me. "Yeah, thanks for the help cleaning up," I replied.

He snorted. "So, what's your punishment?" he asked raising an eyebrow.

"She didn't catch me," I answered with a wink. Hunter gave me an annoyed look. He was ALWAYS trying to get me in trouble, like he has nothing better to do.
