Beep. Beep. Beep.

I reached over and slammed my hand down on the snooze button on my alarm clock. I did NOT want to get up this morning. I was suddenly very interested in my comfy bed. I could just lay here forev-

"Summer?!" my mother, Sarah, called from downstairs. I swear you could never finish and entire thought in this house!

"What?!" I yelled back somewhat irritably.

"You better not be hitting the snooze button again! You need to get ready for school!" Sometimes my mom just had ears like a bat!

"Ughhh," I groaned as I got up and dragged myself out of bed. I walked to the bathroom and with one look in the mirror, seeing my rat's nest hair, I knew I needed a shower.

After I took a quick shower, I threw on the clothes Hunter picked out for me yesterday, and I hoped he knew what he was talking about. I dried my hair quickly and pulled it up into a ponytail with a cute headband, a casual style. I slipped on my Sperry's and grabbed my shoulder bag, full of the supplies my parents insisted on getting me.

"Bye, mom!" I called, ready to walk out of the door.

"Wait! Summer, you need to eat breakfast!" she demanded.

"I'll eat on the way," I compromised, grabbing an apple an running out of the door before she had time to object. Slowly, I began my walk to school, biting my apple occasionally.

The walk to school was about 30 minutes, but I was used to walking because the traffic in New York was indescribable! I did like one thing about living in North Carolina, and that was the quietness. No busy highways with honking horns and construction around every corner. The only construction you saw around here was trees growing alongside the roads and houses.

I got to school in 20 minutes, I think my mother read it wrong when she looked it up on line. Not many people were there yet, and there were only a few cars in the lot. I assumed most of them were teachers, because they looked old, and not the 'newest' if you know what I mean. I walked up to the front doors, right under a huge sign that said Franklinton High.

I walked into the school and the first thing I noticed was that it was huge! I had no idea how I was ever going to get around! There were five long hallways and I had no idea which one my first class was on. I decided to try the first one, but most of the classes seemed to be senior classes. I was making my way towards another hallway, when suddenly someone bumped right in to me.

Omph. Whoever the girl that bumped into me fell on the ground and I followed right after, falling on my butt.

"Oww.." I groaned. My butt was definitely going to be bruised.

"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry!" The blonde girl hurriedly stood up and held out a hand. I took it and she helped me to my feet. When we were both standing on two feet again, she took a better look at me. "Are you knew here? I havn't seen you around before?" she asked.

"Yeah, sorry, i'm, uh, kind of lost," I admitted sheepishly.

"No problem! I can't show you around! My name's Peyton," she said. Peyton was quite a perky person, but that matched her gorgeous appearance. She was probably very popular.

"Summer," I told her, offering a friendly smile. "I'm looking for," I glanced down at my schedule, "Mr. Blackwell's class?"

"Oh! That's my homeroom, too! C'mon!" she said enthusiastically. I followed Peyton down the hallway closest to the cafeteria and to Mr. Blackwell's class.

It turns out that Peyton is in my first two periods. I also noticed when I walked with her in the hallway, people cleared a path and kept their distance from her. It was almost like they were afraid of her, but she seemed unfazed by it. My first three periods were boring as I expected, but now I had lunch.
