"That's a beautiful necklace you got there, Kobeni."
In some kind of random building in the middle of Tokyo, there was an office room in said building where a young adult woman, who wore a suit and a black coat, had red hair, and blank red yellow swirly eyes. This mysterious yet authoritarian woman could be seen sitting behind her desk and looking at the person standing before her.
"O-Oh, thank you Miss Makima!"
Which was none other than Kobeni Higashiyama herself, nervous as always, who bowed politely at the woman, known as Makima, when she complimented her
'At least it doesn't stand out...'
Kobeni sighs in relief as she glances at the collar that is still wrapped around her neck, glad that she isn't getting any attention from it.
'But hopefully I'll find a way to remove this sooner or later...'
Kobeni was still slightly annoyed that she couldn't remove it, no matter what she did to it, she was starting to get desperate to consider asking for some, "Special", help
"I have a job for you."
However, before Higashiyama could think of other ways to remove the device from her neck, Makima spoke and snapped her out of her thoughts.
"O-Oh, Yes! Of course, I'm ready whenever you are!"
Kobeni decided in the end to worry about it later and instead focused on doing her job, which her boss was going to give her and maybe get paid well from it.
"Good."
Makima, glad to have her workers' attention and focus, pulled out a file folder and gave it to her employee
"There have been reports of a Carrot Devil roaming around the countryside, I need you and your Division to deal with it, think you can handle it?"
As Makima gave a summary of today's job, Higashiyama was able to open the file and read all the extra details and information about today's job.
'At least today won't be that hard.'
From the looks of it, Kobeni thinks she's going to have an easy day, which is a relief because all she wants is a day off from her troubles.
"Yes, we should be able to handle it."
Kobeni, feeling a little confident, accepted the job she had been given, which made her boss smile in satisfaction
"Then I wish you luck, transport will be waiting for you outside in about 12 minutes, be ready by then."
With nothing more to say, Makima allowed her worker to leave to do her job, who gave one last goodbye bow before leaving her office, while heading for work, the employee couldn't help but think to herself about the job she was given
'Even if it's a Devil, who could possibly be scared of carrots?'
A few moments later, inside a large, almost abandoned and broken barn, Kobeni could only watch in complete horror as she saw the Carrot Devil, which looked a lot more terrifying than it did in the photo, completely massacred and tore her teammates to shreds with no effort at all
"W-Why do bad things a-always happen to m-me?..."
Kobeni whimpered and started to cry, watching as the Carrot Devil finished off her squad and was now glaring at her.
'I-I Mean Seriously! Why Me?!'
While Kobeni was breaking down from all the stress she was suffering today, the Carrot Devil started moving closer to the sobbing Devil Hunter
