Aakansha Rathore
I was getting ready for the haldi function. I was quite happy as today's wedding will get over and then tomorrow by morning's flight I can go back to Mumbai but I just hope bhai doesn't stop me cause if he did then I would not be able to say no to him. Sighing, I picked up the jhumka to wear but frowned when I didn’t find my broken bracelet which I put on the dressing table. As long as I remember I started looking for it but it was nowhere to be found. I was still looking for it but a knock on the door interrupted.
“Di function is about to start coming down fast”,Shivangi said and went I put the dupatta on my shoulders taking the last look at myself I went out of the room.
As I entered the venue I felt the energy in the air filled with laughter and joyous chatter of family and friends. The venue was beautifully decorated with red and yellow colors and intricate floral arrangement reflecting the happiness and celebration of the occasion. In the center of the venue there was a special seating arrangement for the bride and groom. It was beautifully decorated with flowers and drapes creating a picturesque backdrop for the rituals.
Two big bowls were kept there and bhai and bhabhi were already sitting in them laughing and enjoying their moments. Seeing them a smile came on my face but it faded when I remember those incidents, those moments, that man just remembering that a shiver ran down my spine. I went and sat on the chair there. I was lost in the thoughts that I didn’t realize when Shivangi came and sat beside me.
We both were just minding our business but out of nowhere a high pitched voice pierce in my ears and looked in the direction of that voice and saw our not so favorite Maya bua.
“Aur shivangi bete kaise ho?”, she said while side eyeing me.
“Bas thik hu bua ji”, Shivangi replied with a tight lipped smile.
[How are you shivangi?]
[I am fine aunty]She came and sat near us and started speaking.
“After Mihir it your number to get married”.
“I am not planning to get married this soon”, Shivangi replied to her.
“Why you should get married and not be like her? She has ruined her life, you don’t do that”, she said, referring to me.
As she mentioned my name it l triggered me, none of us siblings like her in the first place and here she is giving my sister opinion that she should not be like me.
“First of all, what's the problem if she becomes like me? If she becomes like me then she will live her life according to her without caring for others and she will be happy with that”, I said to her while she started throwing daggers towards me.
“Kids these days are so mannerless that they don’t even know how to talk to elders”, she said, fuming in anger.
“She didn’t even insult you she just said truth and secondly why are you interfering in my life go and interfere in your mannerless son’s life it will be benefit for both of you”, this time shivangi replied, making me proud of her.
“My child is not mannerless like you both okay”, she said while glaring at us.
“Oh really then you would love to see the scene in front”, Shivangi said.
As we looked in front we saw her dear son was not able to balance him properly because of the amount of alcohol he had consumed and he was just making the girls uncomfortable there seeing her son’s state her mouth got shut automatically.
“Now if you don't want you and your son to be kicked out from here to just take your son and sit quietly in a corner”, I said to her and went and grabbed her son’s hand inside the haveli.
Shivangi looked at me and started laughing. I also smiled a little. My attention was diverted as I saw Rajputs entering. I was looking at them but my gaze stuck on a particular person, Abhimanyu Rajput. He was wearing a simple yet stunning yellow kurta the way his sleeves were up and hair perfectly styled, it made me feel something different.
I was lost there but then something struck in my mind that what I call him yesterday in the flow of my emotions I called him by his name for the first time god knows what he would be thinking. My thoughts came to a halt when he looked in my direction and started coming near us. He smiled at me and sat beside me.
Abhimanyu's outfit
“Hello Shivangi”, he said while smiling.
“Hello bhaiya”, she also replied with the same smile.
We sat there in silence and Shivangi went as her friends came to call her. Now we both are sitting quietly.
“Hello Aakansha ji”, he said while looking at me.
“Hello”, I also replied.
“You know I have something for you”, he said, making me look towards him.
He again looked out a little red box he opened it and showed it to me seeing that eyes got moist I immediately took it out. It was my bracelet which was broken. It was all fixed.
“How you got this bracelet as I remember I took it with me when it was broken”.
“I have my ways”, he said while flipping his hair.
“Thats not call having ways that call being thief”.
“I didn’t steal it”, he said, being offended.
“But you still bribe shivani though”.
“Yeah- wait how do you know?”
“I have my ways”, I said while wearing the bracelet.
“Oh yes how can I forget that little creature is not trustable when it's come to you”.
“She have a name”.
“Yeah yeah”.
“Thank you for the bracelet”, I said while looking at him.
“If I get to hear my name from you then I am willing to give you a hundred bracelets”, he said while smiling.
“Thank you for the bracelet Abhimanyu”, saying this I got up and towards bhai and bhabhi applying haldi to them.
