Miscarriage, severe injury
"Where's Bobby?" Buck asked, his face bright with childlike curiosity. "They're investigating the St Pauls Fire that killed the Minnesota twins," Chimney sighed, "He left me in charge. Last I heard he's still in the police station." That was a hard pill to swallow. Buck made sure to check up on them. Even now that he's been with Eddie for months they've checked up on him.
It was an ordinary call or at least so they thought, "118 this is dispatch we have a Robert Nash requesting to talk to you says it's urgent," Chimney buzzed his radio having not heard them, "Dispatch 118 cop-," he couldn't even respond. The last thing Eddie remembered was reaching out to hold Buck's hand when the fire inferno engulfed the ladder truck. A figure emerged through the smoke, "Captain Nash!" He yelled at Buck, Buck tried to move but even twitching was agony. Barely turning around he saw the entire weight of the ladder bearing down on his leg. "Eddie!" Buck screamed in pain, if he needed anyone right now it's him, "Eddie!" He cried, "Your not Captain Nash," rang in his ears. Buck didn't know that Chimney and Bobby were negotiating with Freddie Casto to let one person see to Buck, it'll be Eddie everyone knew that. Send Eddie, comfort and care in one.
Rushing through Eddie just about dove onto the floor, he yanked off his turnouts and used it to protect Buck from the emerging flames. Got the monitors and the C collar on him, as much pain relief as he could give that will keep him awake. Then he had to sit there watching while his mate fought for his life, "Eddie," "No Buck save your strength baby," "You and I," he paused struggling, "Both know this is bad I want you to know that I'm only at my best with you," "And I couldn't live without you." He manoeuvred around Buck to lie next to him shield him from Freddie Casto, "I've got you Buck I've got you." Eddie watched Bobby wrestle the trigger away from Freddie, he kept a firmer hold around Buck just in case, "They've got Freddie in custody Buck they've going to move the ladder now," Eddie whispered in his ear, "Eddie!" Chimney shouted, "No don't go," Buck pleaded gripping Eddie's hand. Eddie had to watch helpless as his colleagues tried and failed to move the engine. Buck heard metal clanging and footsteps smashing around him, "Eddie what's going on?" Buck asked, "Civilians are coming to help Buck," Hen smiled at Eddie.
One last heave and they got him, his leg was free, Eddie hated hearing him scream like that, "I know Buck," he cried as he helped Hen get Buck onto a stretcher and into the ambulance. He never let go, Buck knew he was there even though they stunk of smoke. The pair refused to be parted even in the hospital. Bobby had to fight Eddie away from the gurney enough to let the doctors and nurses do there jobs, Bobby had Eddie to his chest so only he saw the blood on the sheet higher up. He mouthed, 'Is that what I think it is?' To the nurse and she nodded. Spotting of a miscarriage. When quizzed Eddie broke down not knowing at all that he was pregnant they'd taken all the precautions. Clearly it wasn't enough.
Eddie's authority as Buck's alpha meant he could stop the doctors from telling Buck about the miscarriage. He needed to that with Maddie and Bobby's help. Eddie did scold Maddie for letting Buck enter adulthood with little to no knowledge of how his own body worked. "So how are you going to tell him?" Maddie asked, they were sat one either side of Buck, he was still unconscious, "Just come out with it," Eddie deemed. A blessing and a curse that Buck came too just then, "Hello," he smiled squeezing Buck's hand, Buck squeezed back on both sides, to his mate and sister. "Buck how are you feeling?" Maddie asked, "Like a ladder truck fell on me," "Close enough Buck," Bobby joked, Eddie stroked the hair out of his eyes, "Buck honey. On the way in the nurses noticed bleeding that wasn't caused by your leg," he shifted enough to notice the pad underneath him, "Buck you miscarried on the way in. The OB said the pregnancy was so early on that it made sense that we didn't even suspect. As too why we'll figure it out later," "Can't miss what we never knew." Buck murmured looking away in shame. Eddie looked to Bobby and Maddie for help, Bobby took over, "Buck it's nothing to be ashamed of," he assured him taking his hands, "I'm meant to keep our baby safe, not put it at harms way. I killed it before it stood a chance," Buck confessed tears pouring, "Buck," Bobby jumped forward to hold Buck close to his chest, "Your okay Buck, think about it this way a parent would give there life for there baby. Your life was in grave danger and the baby decided that for the sake of their future siblings that they should give theres for yours," it didn't help but it felt a little better.
Buck insisted Eddie go check on Christopher, he wanted the time alone. A nurse was worried so kept a closer eye on him, once Buck made sure no one was looking he cupped his hands to his belly. "Hey baby, I'm sorry I couldn't protect you. I sorry baby if I'd have known, things wouldn't have changed," he realised happy, "Your gone now baby and I will miss you even though I never knew you were there, goodbye my love," what he didn't know was that Eddie heard, Chris was with him and had heard too. Eddie sat down outside the door, Chris rubbed his shoulder but he made a choice, "Buck," Christopher smiled going in. "Hey buddy where's ya dad!" Buck smiled patting the empty section of bed, "He's outside upset, he heard what you said and is now crying," "Oh lord, Eddie," Buck called. With tear stained eyes Eddie walked into the room, Buck invited him to lay with him. His boys lay around him one asleep, the other comforting his distraught dad.
