Trigger warning ⚠️: miscarriage

Not risking taking anymore firefighters off duty Bobby took Buck to get checked out, "Evan Buckley heard you had quite a rodeo," the doctor laughed flipping some paper on the chart, "Is your alpha with you?" "No Captain Nash is my stand in and my adoptive dad," "Okay, I've noticed you've had some discomfort about your abdomen may I take a look?" Buck saw no reason to refuse so he let the doc examine rope bruises, then he started measuring his stomach with his hand, then pulled over an ultrasound machine. The gel was freezing cold and he had no idea what was going on, he glanced over at Bobby was also clueless.

"Oh, Mr Buckley when was your last heat?" Food for thought that it was meant to be last week but with his biological parents he didn't even notice, "I don't remember a lot has happened recently, why?" "Because I have some news," he pushed the cart to one side sitting on the stool next to him, 'Evan from the stress from what you described your problem with your parents and today you lost your baby, I hear no heartbeat and it appears your uterus is refusing to shed, you couldn't have been more than five weeks," his face when numb and began clinging to Bobby, "Is that dangerous? You know not shedding?" "Yes very. I'm going to give you the three pills that will trigger the shedding, take half an hour apart and it must be done within 24 hours from now. Take these with you it will help being at home with your alpha."

He was just so numb he couldn't feel any pain.

Another pregnancy they didn't know about, another baby they lost. Buck immediately told Eddie when he got back to the firehouse. No one else knew nor did they want them to know, Bobby let them go early, the longer the unviable pregnancy remains the potential for complications. An hour and a half all three pills were taken and the process began, Buck hid in the bathroom having locked Eddie out for hours. He shouldn't be pushing Eddie away, he hated it but he couldn't handle disappointing anyone else right now.

By the time he unlocked the door he was just sat on the shower floor completely exhausted, Chris had been wandering back and forth asking if Buck was okay just confused to the situation. Eddie explained to him while making mac and cheese what was going on, Chris took the news well, he's at the age where he knew about sex ed both from the talk and school. He could only hope Buck is okay in the end, he was sat watching an episode of M*A*S*H that was on telly. Eddie shuffled back to the bathroom door, hesitantly he tried the lock, unlocked was a relief, "Buck?" Eddie asked stepping into bathroom, "Oh my baby," Eddie stood from outside the bath, "I'm sorry Eddie, I failed I was meant to take care of our baby," "You didn't know Buck, you didn't fail at all my love." The bath had a stained rim of blood that Eddie and Buck were automatically thinking of ways to clean up. The toilet seat was up, Eddie went to close it when he noticed a tiny bit of gloop; it was there baby. Drawing a deep breath he flushed the toilet, shut the bathroom door then knelt next to the tub and helped him remove the clothes and a bath drawn.

Bleeding let up after Chris had gone to bed, both had silently agreed that there would be no shame if they had to spend the night in there en suite but they could get away with putting towels down and wearing a heavy duty pad. Buck laid stiff as a board tracing the natural contours of Eddie's chest, "We're going to be okay Buck, we're going to be okay," Eddie whispered playing with the blondes hair.
