"The Sun shines alone. All alone."

Francis stood outside the window, waving at his people, keeping up a huge smile. This was it. What his destiny held for him. The heavy golden crown, cramped by jewels from all over France, weighed down on his head; with one little slip, it would crash down and be unfixable. The sun had finally started to set, giving a lovely orange hue colour. His mother stood right beside him, still wearing a plain black dress, her eyes looking lost like she will never return to her path again. She has fallen off and will now wait until grief swallows her up; it has already bit her, why wouldn't it take her too? Though it was quite obvious that she was in no mood for celebrations yet for Francis, she stood on the balcony and gave her best smile to the people.
The moon had finally rose, it was a full moon tonight. It illuminated the sky to mark such a prestigious day and when the moon rises the sun must go down. Francis said his farewells to his people, took his mother by her hand and walked her back to her room.
As they were walking, she said,"You do know you now need a Queen for support and a heir.."
"Mother... I told you that I do not fancy women."
His mother sighed and replied,
"I know dear, you know I support you but we need a heir to take the throne of France otherwise only God knows what would happen to our kingdom.."
"Why can't we ever marry for love? Why do we always have to worry about these things?" Francis questioned to his mother.
"That's the curse of being royal, mon cherie.."
She walked into her room after saying that and then locked the door, leaving Francis' mind to just echo those words said. He imagined a different world, where he and Arthur were both commoners, meeting each other on a lovely crystal blue stream, both getting water to provide for their family and then they make eye contact. They laugh and become friends. They meet up everyday, slowly becoming the bestest of best friends, teasing each other and having the time of their lives. They fall in love and then get married, happily, without any refusals or duties to obey. They would live a happily ever after. Oh, that would be a dream! A world that Francis would die to live in! It's too late though, isn't it? Arthur is married to the wealthy king of the West and he would sooner or later also need to marry, he cannot stay in denial forever...
He missed Arthur. Maybe, maybe... he took out a piece of scroll and a pen and started to carefully write,
Cher Arthur, mon amour,
Cordialement,
FrancisOver the years that he and Arthur had talked over the phone, Francis taught Arthur French for them to be able to secretly communicate if any of Arthur's family was snooping around near his, which Arthur commented happened very often. He placed the pen done and sealed the letter, handed it to his most trusted servant, Antonio and yes, he didn't seem the most responsible, but he sure was.
"Oh Antonio!"
A chestnut brown haired man with flashy green eyes strolled in the room,
"What do you need Francey Pants?"
Those two have been best friends since day one, knew everything about Francis' tragic love story with Arthur and had comforted him during his heart break.
"I need to get this letter to Arthur.. are you willing to travel-"
"No."
"Come on Antie please!"
"Francis, I do not want to travel the goddamn-"
And the next thing he knew was that he was on his way to the Kingdom of United North America.

There he stood in front of the massive castle that looked over him. Wait... how was he going to get the letter to Queen Arthur without getting caught. He did not know his way around this castle at all. He walked around the gates until he was stopped by a tall stern looking blonde man with piercing blue eyes. If Antonio had to be honest, he did not look at all from this country, he looked more like a foreigner, somewhere from Europe definitely, but where? While Antonio was trying to guess where the man was from, he did not seem to notice that the guard was asking him question.
"ARE YOU LISTENING!"
Antonio jumped back, scattering on the floor. The man seemed to calm down a bit and offered his hand to help him up. Antonio seemed to be less tense by the gesture and muttered a thanks.
"What is that in your hand?"
The man pointed towards the letter.
"Oh this uhhh.."
"I am one of Arthur's servants," he said taking out a piece of paper which showed that he was trusted by the King of the United Kingdom that he was trusted to take care of the new Queen, "Is that for him?"
"Yes," he replied, "Indeed it is.. it is from Francis, King of France."
"You are a servant of his?"
"Yes.."
"You know about them?"
"Their affair? Yes, of course!"
"General Ludwig!" a rough voice was heard coming closer to them.
"Hand me the letter and get out of here!" Ludwig whisper-commanded.
Antonio nodded, not wanting to know who that voice was, handed him the letter and ran off to catch the nearest ship back to France.
