"To be brave is not to be fearless, it is to know the danger and still accomplish your mission"

POV: Minerva Redfield

For 2 years I have been here, in a camp for kids like me. The camp half-blood was created to protect and guide young demigods who are no longer safe in the human world. When I arrived Chiron, one of the camp directors, welcomed me by telling me about the prophecy that allowed me to be here.

Years ago, Selene, the goddess of the moon, communicated with Chiron and Dionysus asking for shelter for her daughter since the goddess knew that the time would come when the little girl would no longer be safe. Selene told them about a prophecy: "Someday a demigod will come to the camp and will be the salvation of both worlds. That child whose heart belongs to an adventurer will need the moonlight to light his way." Selene's daughter would be a key piece in the success of that demigod so the camp directors agreed to give her shelter when she needed it. At this point I think you already have an idea of who this girl is.

I have always been grateful to the camp for giving me the peace and love of a home. The first person I met was a tall black-haired boy, his name is Luke, son of Hermes, and he is one of the best people I have ever met. He is strong, brave and cares for me as if we have always know each other. The first time I talked to Luke I was devastated. I was in the forest trying to forget that because of my gift I had lost my family.

The son of Hermes found me while he was training nearby. —Did the gods do something to you too? —he asked, sitting on a stone and looking at me on the ground. I looked up frightened, I had just arrived at the camp and I didn't know anyone. I knew they were all children and that they were probably going through the same thing as me, but that didn't mean they weren't a danger. I got up from the ground without taking my eyes off the boy.

—Hey, hey, calm down. I'm not trying to hurt you —he said, causing me to slowly let my guard down. Luke noticed this so he continued talking to me. At the time I didn't understand but weeks after I realized that I was a second away from going into an anxiety attack, he was worried about me. —I just wanted to apologize for everything you are going through, it must be hard to face all this at such a young age —he said with a soft look on his face.
