CHAPTER NINETEEN

"I never once thought you'd invite me to hang out. What's up?" Zaiden asked as he entered Arlo's office.

Zaiden is Isla's husband, they became friends after Rosette introduced Arlo to him years ago. Just like Arlo—Zaiden is also a well-known businessman.

Arlo shifted his gaze from his computer monitor to Zaiden, who was now sitting on the couch in front of his desk.

“How was the honeymoon trip?” Arlo asked in return.

“Everything went well,” Zaiden replied, leaning back against the couch. “How about you? When are you planning to take Rosette on a honeymoon trip?”

“She's in the early weeks of pregnancy. I don't think it's safe for her to travel,” Arlo said casually.

Zaiden straightened up. “What? She's pregnant?”

Arlo frowned. “Isla didn't mention anything? They've been spending a lot of time together lately. I'm sure Rosette must have already told her about it.”

“Yeah? But why didn't she say anything..” Zaiden eyes squinted. “I wonder what they're up to.”

Sandaling natigil ang usapan nila nang pumasok si Lexi upang paghandaan sila ng kape. Pagkatapos ay natuloy din ito nang makaalis ang dalaga.

“Why don't you ask her?” Arlo uttered.

Zaiden's brows furrowed immediately. “Nah, that's none of our business. Let them have their girls' time,” Zaiden replied.

Arlo sighed, trying to clarify his intentions. “I don't mean to meddle in their affairs. I simply want to ensure that whatever it is, it's not overly complicated. We just have to make sure that they'll not get into trouble.”

Zaiden's frustration grew as he interpreted Arlo's words as a suggestion to spy on them. Arlo remained silent, allowing Zaiden to answer his own question.

“D*mn it! I knew you'd never want to see me unless you wanted something,” Zaiden groaned. Reluctantly, he conceded, "Fine! I'll do it for my wife's sake.”

“Good,” Arlo said before looking at his monitor again.

Once Zaiden left his office. Tinutok niya ulit ang mga mata niya sa cctv footages na pina-kolekta niya kay Lexi at sa iba pang mga tauhan niya. Sa unti-unting pagiging hectic ng schedules niya, konti na lang ang oras niya para pagtuonan at alamin ang pinagkakaabalahan ng asawa niya nitong mga nakaraang araw. 

So he'll let Zaiden do the work.

Mas maganda rin kasi kung kay Isla mismo manggagaling ang mga impormasyon dahil ito lang naman ang kasama ni Rosette buong linggo.

He's not doing this because he doesn't trust Rosette. He's doing this because he wanted to protect his wife, pero kung wala siyang alam sa mga nangyayari rito. Paano niya iyon magagawa?

Yes, what Mr. Castro had told him about Rosette going to a hotel bothered him. ‘Cause why in the world his wife would check in in a hotel without him? Pero naisip niya rin na baka dahilan ito kung bakit nito ginawa iyon.

He wouldn't think of something else until he heard Rosette's explanation.

NANG makalabas sina Rosette at Isla sa apartment ni Lea dala ang brown na envelope. Hindi muna sila umalis para hintayin itong dumating, tahimik ang buong sasakyan at hindi na sinubukan pa ni Isla na usisain ang kaibigan.

Base palang kasi sa ekspresyon ng mukha nito, alam niya na agad na kumukulo na ang loob nito sa galit matapos nang nalaman nila sa loob.

Isla tried to focus on her phone pero agad din iyong naudlot sa biglaang pagbaba ni Rosette nang sasakyan. When she turned to look at the side mirror, she immediately saw Lea coming.
