y/ns pov:❝ let's go to our tree. ❞
i looked at the boy, who just walked out of the changing rooms, now back into his uniform. since both yukie and kaori were third years i decided i should become manger for the volleyball team, one thing i don't regret doing.
akaashi cut practice short today—as he is the new captain since bokuto was also a third year. i looked at him, awaiting for an answer, but im sure it was going to be yes anyways. akaashi nodded his head, his face unusually red, but i just thought it was because it was hot.
even though akaashi and i may seem like it, we are not boyfriend and girlfriend. we never really put a title over our heads—and quite honestly i have no idea what we are. all i know is that we treat each other as if we are a couple, but in all actuality—we're not.
we held hands while walking to our cherry blossom tree that finally grew back its cherry blossoms a couple weeks ago. once we finally reached the tree, we both sat down in our designated spots, throwing our bags off of our shoulders.
"you know, today marks a year since we met each other." akaashi chuckled, pulling his bag that he'd just thrown off of his shoulder closer to him, starting to dig in it just to take out a note book. he made sure to place the notcook on his lap, the back facing the sky.
i slightly parted my lips in shock, totally forgetting that on this very day, last year is when i had gotten detention then came straight here to realize another person was here—that person being akaashi.
"it's been a year, and i um, i just wanted to ask you.." he mumbled over his words, his cheeks still having that same shade of red. i tilted my head slightly, totally oblivious as i watched the scene unfold right before me.
"can i.. can i be your boyfriend?" he nervously bit his lip, seeing my stunned expression gradually transform into one of excitement. i grinned brightly and lunged at him, wrapping my arms around his body to hug him—unaware that i had flipped the notebook off of his lap, making it flip over to the front.
"of course you can!" i lightly laughed, pecking his lips. akaashi hugged me back, opening his mouth to speak.
"i love you, you know?" the edges of his mouth raised, unable to keep his smile from expanding. i rolled my eyes and pulled away from the hug. "so i've heard." akaashi scoffed playfully, turning away from me only to fix his focus on the note book i had accidently flipped over during the hug.
i turn my head as well to see what he was looking at. the note book had big words written on it, in the color red. my eyes softened as i continued to read it.
