My Demons

Chapter 2

     Lucas walked into a big throne room as big heavy doors slammed behind him. He looked around and saw there were big windows with purple drapes. Along the walls were armor stands with shiny armor similar to the one Lucas was wearing. A long purple carpet with gold accents led up to four thrones. The thrones were all very similar as they were made up of stone that looked recently polished. Along with purple cushions lining the bottom and top of the thrones. The purple cushions had gold buttons on them.

     In the middle on the right sat King Micheal who had ear length black hair with a purple streak in the middle that was swept to the side. His eyes were a dark maroon and he had tan skin. He was currently wearing a black button up, black dress pants, and dark brown dress shoes. He had a white sash hanging off one shoulder and gold padding on both shoulders. He had a golden crown with one large spike in the middle and multiple little spikes around the rest of the crown. It also had a couple red ruby stones engraved in it. He sat with one leg crossed over the other, resting his head on his hand.

      On the far right sat Prince Devin, Micheal's brother. He had brown, ear length, puffy hair, and maroon eyes like Micheal. He was wearing a similar outfit to Micheal. However his sash was red along with the padding on his shoulders. He was currently sitting up right with his hands in his lap. Unlike Micheal his face looked welcoming and happy to be here. He also had a crown but all the spikes were tiny and it had tiny ruby gems on it.
    
      In the other middle throne, to the left, sat a beautiful woman who was Queen Lilac. She had cascading blond hair that was currently curled with baby blue eyes and light skin. She was wearing a long dark purple dress with bell sleeves. The dress's corset was black and the dress was lined with gold. A crown similar to Micheal's sat upon her head as she smiled slightly at Lucas entrance.

     Finally to the far left sat young Princess Rose, who was Micheal's and Lilac's daughter. She had flowing ash brown hair with two tiny buns on top of her head. Placed carefully around her tiny buns, while the rest of her hair went down her back, was a crown similar to Devins. She was wearing a long flowy dress with a white top with puffy sleeves near the hand. The bottom of the dress was dark purple and it flared out at the bottom. She was currently trying her best to sit in a modest position with a straight back, like her mother, but couldn't seem to sit still long enough.
Upon noticing Lucas's entrance Princess Rose's eyes brightened up. Lucas had known Rose for most of her life since he's been a royal guard for the past 9 years. He was employed at the same time Micheal took over the throne at age 18 and when he married his wife Lilac. Lucas climbed the ranks very quickly becoming one of the captains and a good friend of Micheal's. He was a part of Micheal's close knit of guards and was frequently put on babysitting duty with Rose when she was born 6 years ago.
Rose gave Lucas a huge smile and wave to Lucas as he smiled softly waving back.

     "Lucas! My friend! How have you been?" asked Micheal as he straightened up a little and extended his arms out in a welcoming manner.

     "I've been hanging in there," answered Lucas honestly as he kneeled in front of the stairs of the thrones.

       To this Micheal waved Lucas off saying, "Please my friend, there's no need for that."

     Lucas chuckled and stood up, but not before pounding his fist on his chest as a sign of respect. "It only feels right. What would your subject think if they found out your loyal knights were acting causal with the king?" asked Lucas with a twinkle of challenge in his eyes.

     "Ah, well I do believe they will live. Besides, no one with the right mindset would challenge my authority." said Micheal as his eyes darkened, "I mean unless they had a death sentence."

     Lucas felt a shiver go through his body as he remembered why Micheal was the one in charge. It was custom for the next in line to duel the current king for the crown. It was a big event that allowed anyone to enter, though most didn't as they value their life. Since Micheal and Devin were twins Micheal dueled both Devin and then their father before ascending to the throne. It was the most talked about event as the fights lasted hours.
