Jeongin was sitting in his hospital bed talking to his aunt on the phone, it wasn't a pleasant call but she had called to check that he wasn't running away and he knew she would call again and again until he answered, "Why do you care for me staying here anyway?" he asked her and she sighed, "Because it was my sisters wish for you to be healthy," she said and he started fuming, "My mother isn't here any more you don't have to force yourself to care for me for her," he said before hanging up and letting tears flow. Jeongin had severe depression and anxiety, his mother had let him live with her for as long as he needed to but then one day two weeks ago she took her own life, he could clearly remember waking up and walking into the living room just in time to see her jump from their balcony. He ran down to the streets below and cried by her body not understanding why she left him, his aunt had come instantly to take care of him even though she found it to be a bother and she had found the letter his mother had written.
'To whoever finds this I'm sorry, since my husband left me I tried my best but it still hurts even years later. To my dear sweet Jeongin, remember that Mama loves you and please stay healthy,' it read as his aunt had read it she had looked at him. "I'll stay here for a week and during that time I'll take care of things but you have to get your shit together," she had told him, of course that had led him to have a full-blown panic attack right in the middle of the pain of losing his only safe place. In the evening his aunt had found him taking sleeping pills in an attempt to follow his mother which then had led her to take him to the hospital where they managed to save him but also kept him since he was incredibly unstable.Jeongin had cried so much that his tears had almost dried up now, thankfully he had the sweetest nurse to care for him, she comforted him and made sure he visited the psychologist also while it took some time she got him to eat as well. They had managed to keep him on stable nutrition through the drop but it wouldn't be enough in the long run so they had tried hard to get him to eat. His aunt didn't visit, no one did the only company he had was his phone, the nurse, sometimes a doctor and his psychologist, he was in so much pain but he was so scared of pills because of why he landed here in the first place.
The nurse and her colleagues made sure he was up and moving some and also tried to find distractions for him, one day he was eating when a song started to play, the soft melody and the lyrics put him in such a trance that the nurse had to take his spoon before he spilt food all over himself. "Do you like this?" she asked and he nodded which made her smile, "I have an idea finish eating and I'll take you somewhere," she said and he looked at her in confusion, she left the room so he could finish eating in peace and soon she returned. She made him walk with her, she had a wheelchair in case he got tired, as they reached the elevator Jeongin got a bit shakey so she told him to sit in the wheelchair, when he sat properly she walked into the elevator and pressed the button to the fourth floor, the doors closed and they started to move up.Soon she stopped outside a door on which there was a picture of a piano and some other instruments, she knocked and the door opened, "Ah you must be Yang Jeongin," a man said as he opened the door fully so the nurse could drive the wheelchair through it. "I'll leave him in your capable hands for a bit Mr. Lee," the nurse said and Jeongin looked at her with wide eyes, "Don't worry I'm just a button away if I'm needed," she said as she saw how scared he looked and then she left. "Don't be afraid, I was told you reacted to music so that's why she took you here," Mr Lee said and pushed the wheelchair over to a piano, "Have you played before?" he asked softly and Jeongin shook his head, Mr Lee smiled softly at him and asked him to move to a chair in front of the piano. When Jeongin had moved Mr. Lee pushed the wheelchair away and sat down on a chair beside Jeongin, "Press a key," he said and motioned to the black and white pieces on the piano, Jeongin placed a shaking hand on the piano and pressed a finger down which caused a soft noise to flow into his ears followed by a tear from his eye. "Music brings emotion, here give me your hands," Mr Lee said and stood behind Jeongin, he placed Jeongins' shakey hands on the keys and gently pressed them down to form a melody, Jeongin let the tears flow as the melody formed.
"How old are you?" Jeongin asked suddenly as Mr Lee didn't seem that old, "I'm 23," he said with a warm smile, "I'm 20," Jeongin said and Mr Lee nodded, "You can call me by my name if you want, it's Felix," Mr Lee said and Jeongin blushed lightly. Jeongin stayed there for about an hour but was told he could come back as often as he wanted as long as Felix had time, after the hour the nurse came back and picked him up and thanks to the energy from the music Jeongin managed to walk back to his room without the wheelchair.
That night Jeongin fell asleep humming the melody he learned during the day, he might not get better fast but this was something to find comfort in while he was here at the hospital, now if only he could get out and find some other comfort...
