"War Is Over"

21 7 6

I need more blood
Injuries are increasing
The battle's still going on
I can't stop the bleeding

The wounds are more than stitches
The room's full, I'm the only nurse
Mortars and red shrapnel everywhere
gunshots can be heard in the distance

When will the war be over?
When will the war be over?
Neither victory nor failure
I just want it to be over

Black sand around my eyes
Free waves arrive the beach
you get used to their sound
the sense others about my tears

Swimming in the tear pool
With a thousand scars on my soul
Maybe that's why I don't kill myself
I'm afraid to see my corpse alone

When will the war be over?
When will the war be over?
There's no truce, it's not fair
I just want it to be over

They gave me a wound I'll never accept to be from their dagger
Countless splinters will remain in my body forever
Won't the war end with surrender? Can't there be peace?
So why am I still fighting? Why won't the war over?

The territory was conquered, my soldiers were captured
They don't let me die, they don't let me surrender
They make my defense look like I insulted them
Burying me six feet under would be their boring closure

When will the war be over?
I don't need to any viewer
When I'm under fatal pressure
just want to hear "war is over"

_________

I think we all live in the midst of a war that we didn't start and can't end.
A war in which we're the only soldiers, wounded but never dying.
Sometimes our enemy is a stranger, and sometimes it's ourselves.
This war is the cruelest that can befall a person, and I feel sorry for those who understand this poem all too well :)
