[victoria's pov]

"I fell for you."

Of all the overwhelming things I had discovered a few days ago, that was the one that stood out to me the most. Mattheo fell for me after deceiving me for all the time I thought he truly liked me. The first two days of school, he tried to talk to me but I refused to. We weren't sure where we stood yet time was a lending hand.

Another few days had already passed without another word as the twins had begun to notice our strange and distant behaviour. It wasn't just Mattheo I was now avoiding but Theo and their group of friends. All of them, even avoiding their existence in Snape's class.

I couldn't find myself to ask for anymore closure. I wanted to draw the end of the line, but how could I do it without ink? Without more answers?

There had to be more to the story... I had to hear Mattheo's side.

But not right now.

He deserves to know how I feel. But he'll only feel half of it.

Professor Flitwick dismisses the class as Fred grabs my shoulder bag for me. They had been walking on hot stones around me since they noticed my behaviour, but none of us had decided to say anything yet, as if they were afraid I'd shoot lasers out of my eyes at anyone who'd upset me.

"So..." Fred said as we entered the corridors, passing several students.

Many students were still buzzing about the ball and the holidays. But more were talking about the next trial, which would apparently be held at the Black Lake as soon as it thaws.

"Missed Bagman again at the ball," George said, filling me in on what I missed after I disappeared.

"Yeah, bastard got lucky because of McGonagall," Fred said and imitated, "Have I not warned you to not embarrass this house?" His imitation was very much like their mother's though.

"A shame, you could have been there to catch him for us," George said then timidly added, "Where'd you even disappear off to?"

Fred and George's pace slowed as they came to a brief stop, waiting for answers.

"Nowhere important," I said with a short grin then, "Now it's time for me to disappear off to Snape's class."

Unsatisfied with my answer, Fred returned my bag as I waved goodbye while they were joined by Lee Jordan.

As I made my way down the quiet corridor, I heard a voice behind me.

"Victoria, wait," Mattheo's voice called out from behind.

I turned briefly then swung my back toward him, almost stomping toward the stairs. With haste, Mattheo grabbed me by the arm and forced me to face him.

"Will you just listen?" he demanded.

"I have been!" I exclaimed, raising my arms slightly in defence. "Every word of yours I listened to and they all turned out to be lies."

Mattheo exhaled heavily as I turned my heel and he harshly swung me around again when a force shoved him aside.

"Piss off, Mattheo," Theo said as Mattheo roughly shoved Theo back.

Mattheo muttered something under his breath and Theo looked at me without a word before turning his head back to an enraged Mattheo.

"Mind your own fucking business," Mattheo said. "You're just upset I got the girl so no need to play hero anymore."

"What're you talking about?" I asked.
