[victoria's pov]
I ended up rooming with two other girls, who were thankfully not Pansy Parkinson. I would have had to switch houses for real if that had happened. But no, I was rooming with a young girl my age named Millicent Bulstrode and Astoria Greengrass who... was not as horrible as Pansy Parkinson.
I wake up and pull out my new schedule for the term.
Despite this year's festivities, it seemed as if it was going to be the same old. With O.W.Ls waiting for me and parents at home waiting for reports.
With time to spare, I opened my bag and began unpacking my clothes into the drawers, as I had knocked out last night. I withdraw a poster of the Weird Sisters and Millicent awakens from her bed with a light gasp.
"Are you a Weird Sisters fan too?" she asked.
"Yes," I answered. "Have been since I was young."
Millicent squeals and clasps her hands together as I tape my posters up upon the wall. She and I fell into a conversation about their latest songs and whether I knew it or not, it would be the beginning of a new friendship. She's easy to get along with and I'm glad to have her around as I part my way with her, heading to charms, my first period class.
I feel a sudden weight on my back as Fred hops, making me piggy-back carry him.
"Good Merlin, Fred!" I exclaim as I fall against a wall. George laughs, dragging us along as they follow me to my charms class.
"You're going to follow me until I make that ageing potion for you, aren't you?" I ask the twins.
They nod and Fred adds, "And until we get to class."
"Which is-?
"Charms with Flitwick," George says.
"What?" I asked. "But you-"
"-Yeah, we heard it twice from mum already," Fred says.
"Didn't do so well on the O.W.Ls," George explained simply then added, "Perhaps we're just not meant for schooling."
"I've always felt our futures lay outside the world of academic achievement," Fred says confidently as George nods his head in agreement.
We made our way to Professor Flitwick's classroom and I read the seating chart. The room was half full of Slytherins and Gryffindors, one on each side so I was separated and placed beside-
"Mattheo Riddle," he says, placing out his hand in front of me. "I don't think we've properly been introduced now that I think about it."
"No, we haven't," I said, taking his hand as I sat down. "Victoria McCallian."
His grip is tight as I release it quickly, feeling an electric wave flow up my arm, placing a smile on my face as I saw Fred and George from across the room. Both of their brows were raised as they turned their heads away slowly to Flitwick, who was preparing the syllabus. Despite this, I was slightly disappointed he didn't remember me.
