P.O.V : Emily Parker
Time: 5:01 A.M.
Days since the Parkers have gone missing: 1
The loud beeping noise from the heart monitor is what wakes me up. My head is pounding, and my sight is slightly off plus it's extremely blurry. I'm assuming I have a concussion. My vision is slightly getting better now and I just so happen to notice that my Aunt is sitting in the corner of the hospital room. She's staring at me nervously. Once she notices I'm up, she gets up.
" Hang on Em, I told the nurse I'd get her as soon as you woke up."
I watch my Aunt Claire leave the room and not even a minute later, she's back in the room with the nurse. The nurse rushes over to my right side to check up on me and she starts messing with my IV. Shortly after the nurse leaves, my Aunt comes over me and holds my hand.
"I'm so glad you're safe," she whispers.
I'm not really paying attention to what Aunt Claire has to say. My mind is still fuzzy and I'm still trying to put the pieces together. I only remember having to check up on my parents really early in the morning, and then next thing you know, I'm here in the ICU having no clue what happened to me after that. Hopefully I'll get some answers soon, because I'm Having a hard time remembering. I guess Aunt Claire noticed I wasn't paying any attention to her, so she waves her hand in front of my face.
"You have that puzzled look on your face Em. I guess you don't remember what happened do you?"
She's right about that so I give my best possible nod, trying to not make my head hurt even more.
"Well your Mom never showed up for work on Tuesday and she never called in sick or anything, and the school called both of your Parents cell phones since you never showed up for school to say you're absent. Of course, none of them picked up. I suppose your neighbors were curious as well, because Dawn called the cops since your Dad usually stops by every morning. Once police arrived, they found you lying unconscious on your parents floor. Apparently, they found their window shattered too."
The puzzle pieces are starting to fit in place now once everything sinks in.
"Are they okay?"
Aunt Claire doesn't say anything and looks down. A million things are running through my mind. Aunt Claire finally speaks up.
"I pray they're not dead. For all we know, they could still be alive, but the both of us have no way way of knowing."
I can see the tears starting to form in her eyes. My heart sinks. Both of my Parents could be dead right now and I have no way of knowing if they're okay or not. How can any of this be happening. None of this seems real, like it's some awful dream and soon I'm gonna wake up and go to school, see my parents, and everything will be fine. Aunt Claire speaks up and interrupts my thoughts.
"I know everything is happening so quickly Emily, but just know that I'm here for you and I hope you'll be there for me too. Also, there's going to be a detective that's gonna stop by to talk to you about all of this. Make sure you're ready for that tomorrow."
Before I can even ask her anything else, she quietly leaves the room, leaving me with my own thoughts.
