Happy Valentines Day, darlings!
Enjoy a 5x longer chapter!

This task was easier said than done, apparently, as the first thing we were tasked with was meeting Endeavor for a, and I quote, "rundown on this week's expectations".

Lemmie tell ya how that went.

Shoto's face went stoic again as we stepped out of the elevator to Endeavor's office, the joy from before completely vanished. There wasn't very much I could do about it, either. What could I do or say to make him feel better about the situation? It's not like there was a wikihow on how to support your friend who would be working with his abusive asshole of a father for a week (there really isn't, I checked). So we walked up in silence.

Endeavor's office was large, fancy, and dark, the only light being from the orange evening sunset flowing through large ceiling-to-floor windows. It was a really nice place. A big crystal chandelier hung in the center of the room, a long oriental rug covered the tile floor, pressed underneath a couple leather couches and chairs.

Our footsteps echoed across the empty, cavernous room as Endeavor stood waiting for us on the other side.

Shoto stopped in front of his desk. I stood beside him, twisting my fingers nervously. I didn't dare bring out Bagheera.

"I've been waiting for you, Shoto." Endeavor began, and god, if that didn't leave a bitter taste in my mouth. "You're finally ready to walk down the path of the mighty."

"I have no intention of following any path you've created." Shoto responded, without missing a beat. His words almost sounded rehearsed, like he knew this was coming. "Only I can decide my future."

Endeavor smirked, dismissing his words. "Is that so? You should go get ready. We're going out."

Shoto tilted his head. "Where to?"

"It's time I show you what it means to be a hero."

We were dismissed, leaving the room in silence.

"Welp." I shrugged. "That could have gone worse. He could have at least acknowledged that I was there, though."

Shoto shrugged. "I have a few running theories on why he invited you here. None of which are good."

"Thanks for that vote of confidence. Care to enlighten me on what they are?"

"Not until we get a little further in."

"Alright, then. Worst rundown on expectations ever. 2/10."

Day 1

"This is incredible," I whispered, standing behind Shoto as we packed up our things. We were currently standing in the Hosu detective office, Endeavor finishing just finishing a meeting with the head of police. "We're- we're following a villain case. The Hero Killer's, of all people!"

Shoto chuckled, standing up. "I guess it is a little exciting."

"Though, I completely missed why we're in Hosu." I frowned, setting a finger on my lip. "Is this where he struck last time?"

Ahead of me, I heard Endeavor scoff as he walked past us, towards the door. "You should have been paying more attention."

I frowned, following. "Sorry, sir."

"Anyone would know this," Endeavor continued. "It was all over the news. The Hero Killer attacked the hero Ingenium. He's in the hospital, paralyzed."

I spluttered. "Ingenium?! Like... Iida's brother?"

Shoto glanced at me. "You didn't know? It was the only thing the media could talk about other than the sports festival."

"I went home and immediately crashed. I was sleeping for at least 15 hours."
